Recent server issues
 

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspGreetings fellow forumers! I wanted to inform those of you who were wondering "What's with the forums" that there was a power outage here in Carson City on Saturday. I came in today and took the opportunity to upgrade the server with a new operating system; it will now be a lot faster and a whole lot more stable... for your convenience of course! I also apologize for any frustration this may have caused. Enjoy!

Phew! I thought my computer was screwin' up royally again.Oh well. At least I know this time it wasn't something I did. Hehehe.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp*UPDATE* I must apologize again, friends. Just a few hours after I had finished resurrecting the server the other night, someone hacked into my server and put the Code Red worm onto it. I recommend that any of you who got the message:

While visiting the forums empty your Temporary Internet Files (cache) to prevent future problems.. although if you're visiting the forums now, your cache has probably already been updated. Thanks again.

Glad to see everything (efficiently) up and running again. Thanks for the update. I'm so glad that the moderators are PEOPLE instead of silly little drones that block out the first four letters of cockroaches because they don't know any better. Keep up the great work, guys! (and girls, if you want to get all testy about it :rolleyes: )

I just want to thank Justin (Pilot) for getting everything up and running for us. He's spent a lot of time on this, and we really appreciate it. I'm sure he knows this already, but it never hurts to thank someone again.

Rest assured that we now have the security updates installed on the server... so this should help prevent this kind of thing occurring in the future.

Three days without the forums..that was just horrible. :D Well I got in here was it sunday and I tried to post on some topic, but mean while it had stopped working again.. Oh well, just good that everything's okey now..:)

I have often problems with my computer so I thought that something was wrong again.

Computers are super cool ! (if they do what you want that they do)

I never thought there was anything wrong with my computer or the internet because everything else was working.

Oddworld-web wasn't working also, which I thought was just natural. But now that I've come to think of it.. what has Kristen's site got to do with Forums' problems..?

Kristen's site is also hosted on Justin's server, so if Justin's server goes down, both the forums and Oddworld-Web will too.

I've just noticed that Justin's title is now "Super Moderator"... Seems very appropriate now...

Why did people think their internet wasn't working? Are we nnot desensitised to the Forums going down yet? ;) j/k

I did think the first few times the forums went down, that my server was messing up again, as OF is my home page. I then found out that it wasn't the case. I notice the forums appear to be wokring well now, so lets hope we don't get any more hackers and power surges, so they stay that way. ;) Anyway, thanks again for what you've done, Justin. :) The forums wouldn't be here without you. :D

I am so glad that this site did not crash. Thank odd for that. All weekond I was trying to get on but my server was saying cannot find web site. I was like Oh Odd what am I going to do now since I can't talk to people all around the world.

But I find out today it is working. Oh well I guess we all have power outages. I had a power outage the other day when I was at work. We were just closing and bang everything goes off. Even the parking lot lights outside. Pitch black. My whole town went dark for two min.
