Alternative names for Abe´s Exoddus

First I want say the names of both games: Abe´s Oddysse and Abe´s Exoddus, are very good and very sonorous, in added both games play with the “odd” word, this names are really very good , perhaps the best ones for our dear games. But I always have thought this:

AE is a matchless name for the first of the games of our friend Abe, however the name of “Abe´s exoddus” although is very sonorous ( “odd” ) and attractive perhaps it isn´t the name that better defines the spirit of this second game. If you watch in the dictionary you will see that the exodus definition does not correspond much with which happens in the game. I think that more appropriate would be a name like these:

Abe´s voyage ( in reference the real/inner abe´s voyage)

Abe´s search ( in reference to the abe´s search along all the game )

Abe´s mission. (what Abe does is really a mission not a exodus )

What do you think. ?. Think in another good name for the game/s

Exoddus means something about freeing/saving people and there were loads MOre Muds in AE than AO, so it's a good name...

Ahem...

I actually think Iliodd might be a good name for, say, a Munch bonus game, because it would fit in well with a war setting, or any conflict really.

I agree that when you look at the meaning off the word, Exoddus isn't a perfect name.

But it's like you said yourself, it SOUNDS a lot better then your alternatives. The name also has to fit with the adventures off Munch, Squeek and...

So lets keep things the way they are. :D

Exoddus is a 'mass leaving' or 'great escape'. That most certainly is the case in Abe's Exoddus - all the Mudokons are returning to Necrum. Well, the ones rescued in AE, anyway.

ex·o·dus (ks-ds)
n.
A departure of a large number of people.

I think that exoddus fits the game fairly well! And if these other definitions about the people being saved are correct than the name "Exoddus" is perfect! I got my definition at www.dictionary.com !

Iliad means (besides the story) a series or sequence of disasters - not just war or conflict.

I like the names they used because they just sound kinda cool ans insightful.

I've probley asked this before but, whose squeek?

Chris Co Depot 09-21-2001 07:10 PM

Squeek is suposed to be the next main character after munch so it goes:
Abe's Oddysee, Munch's Oddysee, then Squeek's Oddysee

Squeek is also symbiotic, and Squeek's Oddysee should revolve around that theme heavily.

ODDBODD 09-22-2001 07:22 AM

lets not start on squeek please.

Oddworld AO and AE is very cool and origanal, i kep saying this but i hate how oddworld is getting rid of their origanality and turning more into a "MARIO" game. Thr rhyming, lurkiness and just plain mysterious that is oddworld is fading away since the OWI got a taste of promotion. *sighs* i thought OW was different :)

i agree, oddbodd...

i think that "Abe's Exoddus" actually fits the first game better, since the theme of the first game was just rescuing mudokons, whereas in the second, although you did have to save mudokons, that wasn't the theme, the theme was stopping them from turning bones into brew, which has nothing really to do with the word 'Exodus'...

but they couldn't have used voyage or search or mission, because none of them have the word 'odd' in them...

hehe "soddom and gomorrah" does...

Abe's Oddysee was more about Abe going on his long journey, or odysey, through Paramonia and Scrabania to discover he was the Mudokon saviour - hence Abe's Oddysee. Abe's Exoddus was just a bonus game with a mass of Mudokons to rescue.

I agree, Oddbodd, I love Abe's Oddysee for its mystery and darkness.
