Custom Avatars...

Could I make one using the basic windows paint program? How would I go about doing this?

Danny 02-11-2002 07:24 PM

Step 1: Draw picture. Make sure it is square.

Step 2: Reduce it to 60 x 60 pixels.

I assume you know how to change your Avatar, but if you don't:

[Step 3: Go to your Control Panel (on the Forums)

Step 4: Click on Edit Options

Step 5: Scroll to the bottom and click "Change Avatar".

Step 6: Scroll to the bottom, select "Yes", and then click "Browse".

Step 7: Find your picture.

Step 8: The rest is simple.]

There.

Step 6.a: Click "Yes" again

You can actually save a file that you do in Paint in Jpeg format. I don't know how good the quality would be, as I don't use it... but when you go to save your file, just change the File type to Jpeg and you will have a Jpeg file which you can upload to your avatar.

Yes you can use paint, i use it to make all of my banners. I love it too bits, gets the job done and does it good.

When saving a file you can use the drop down menu to change it to a jpeg file, so it saves it as a jpeg. Bmp's take to long to download, and if you were to change a 100Kb Bmp into a jpeg by just changing its file extension (.bmp, .jpeg) it will still have 100Kb, you must actually save it through the actual paint program.

I hope that made sense.

Abe Babe...

Have a look at my custom avatar! It is reduced to 60x60 pixels in paint and saved as jpeg IN PAINT. The quality is pretty good, altough it still CAN be better.

EDIT: I just changed my custom avatar. To my previos one (the one I was talking about), see attatchment.

Eeeeeeeeer, how do you actually add an attatchment????

CP - see on the bottom of the form you use to add a post? Underneath "options" is a separate section that says "Attach file" - you use that. Put the file into the address box, and when you add the post, it'll upload it to the forums (I think that's fow it works).

Speaking of personal pictures - I like Middlesboogie's.... (If you can get away with calling it a picture... ;) )

Thankee for the posts, but whenever I choose 60 pixels by 60 pixels, it makes a white block in the corner, and my picture isnt' there...

Danny 02-12-2002 07:17 PM

You must select the picture you have drawn first. THEN tell it to redraw it to 60x60. Then click on the background, and tell it to redraw that to 60x60 as well. Or at least, that's what I did...

Oh wise and powerful Danny, thank you for your wisdom!

It's not so hard after all, and now I have a wicked Noodle avatar! Sweet!
