Disturbing thought
I was thinking (yes I know I shouldent think even my doctor advises ageanst it) since we havent seen any truely male creatures to get down with the queens.
I wonderd if the males are like those of some deep sea angeler fish. Rudimentiry craetures with just enoug supplys to survive long enoug to serve they'r purpose. Mate with the queen and die. But then the queen would have to mate agean periodicly. Or be able to store sperm for the rest of her life.  Now comes the disturbing part. In some angler fish the males don't just mate with the female and die, they actualy become part of the female and the reproductive system. They tap into the system of the female and gow atatched to her they then lose their eyes and stuf until there just a bump on the females body. Becoming an organ for supplying sperm.   How's that for odd!! ps: there was this issu a while back about whether there would be more then one queen for a species. Whell there would have to becous, other whise you would get in breeding. Since new queens I assume would have to mate atleast once in there life and they couldent do so with a male from here mothers brood. |
Not necessarily. Ant colonies have only one Queen (and King, depending on the species), and the new Queens mate with their brothers...
|
Sorry Dan you are wrong there. All the colonies of an ant species are syhcronized to release their new virgin queens and drones at once. The queens actually fly a good distance away from there birth colony to mate with drones from different colonies, to prevent inbreeding. Its the same with bees and termites as well.

*senses a heated debate, and is very much looking forward to it!*
I've always assumed that there was far more than one queen per species. There must be dozens in order to keep the species going, although OWI have said that there is only one Slig Queen, but I interpreted that as only one Queen that the Cartel know of; I'll bet there are others in hiding. I know I'm not alone in thinking that there is more than one Mudokon Queen, because others have speculated on where the Native Muds come from, so they must come from at least one other Queen. The individual Glukkons look far too different for them all to have come from the same Queen IMO. Although we know that Margaret is the absolute ruler of the Magog Cartel; which probably implies that all the Magogian Glukkons are her offspring, but it may just be that Margaret's children get priority when Cartel job positions are being issued. We also know that the Vykkers have no Queen; they are all fertile hermaphrodites. We don't know how all the other species reproduce though. As for drones or reproductive males, I never gave it any thought. Interesting ideas, though. |
Godd said the first day: I will make oddworld
He made it. It was a beautiful place. Then he created life: it was fun but died... Godd was realy busy and didn't have the time to make a new life when one died, so he made Queens (life makers) and put some Queens on each continent... He liked sometimes one Queen more than an other so he reproduced it many times. They had one mission: make lives and when the Queen is to die, make an other one. The Queens were friends long time ago. But then came some rivalities and associations and some Queens made wars with they kids. Godd saw it and was very angry: Killing Lives is BAD! So they stopped making war, but the conflicts were still there. Now, the Queens kids still hate each other and the associations between the Queens and their kid still hold. Some history writted by Xavier, nothing is official |
I have a theory that the Native Muds had a Queen, but that she died recently, which is why it is now important for Abe to rescue Sam...
|
Er, Dan?
Sam IS the natives queen..but she was captured and now all of her babies are born as scrubs, rather than natives....that's why there aren't as many natives, and why it's so important for abe to rescue the scrubs, AND sam... |
There was in the past more then one Mudukon queen. This is because each of the Mudukon tribes/countrys had a queen... But Im not sure if the old trible devisions still exist other then in the relics of their temples.
Im also sure I read that the Slig queen (I can't remember her name) once had sisters, but had them killed so that she wouldn't have any competition with selling her childen to the Glukons. This means that there can be more then one queen for each speacies. It also means that a queen must be able to give birth to more then just one more queen unless all creatures on Oddworld are incredably parilly evolved. This is backed up by the fact that how else could queens be sisters? |
skillya (i think) is probably a hic and thatsd how her sisters came to be aswell.. or maybe a cloning device

hmm...the idea of each tribe having a queen just sounds too illogical for my taste. i mean, perhaps after the muds were bron, they went off to do their own thing...but then that would mean there'd be one 'super' queen pumping ut the muds ALL over mudos..bah i'm neutral i guess. :)
