Nintendo 64
After seeing second-hand N64s on sale for only £25, I've decided to buy one, so that I can play WipEout 64, and finally fill in the gap in my WipEout collection. I don't know if this signifies devotion to or obsession with the series (I'm guessing it's an unhealthy mixture of the two), but anyway, in order to convince my parents that I'm not totally barmy (i.e. by buying a console just for one game), can anyone recommend any other N64 titles that are worth buying?
I like racers (preferably kart or futuristic), platformers and action games. I've heard that 1080 is a good game; can anyone verify this? |
Even though program is pretty gay pokemon stadium is ok(I gotta know loads bout this stuff Mullok,Rextirano, you know why!:~} ;) ;)

I don't own an N64, but I could recommend some games I really enjoy playing on the N64 when I can get my hands on one (A few of my friends have them). I have also provided links to thier reviews on Gamespot.
Anyway, those are most of the N64 games that I enjoyed. Maybe I'll get my own N64 someday when I can afford it. - DH [ October 19, 2001: Message edited by: Dark Hood ] |
my family has 3 n64's!!!!!
i highly recamend Donkey Kong 64!!!!!!!!!! one of the best games i have ever played!!! |
Perfect Dark is the best N64 game PERIOD. Other very good games are smash bros. and the two zelda games.

A lot of nice games 4 and 5 years ago. Mario anyone, original Zelda.
But for Gods sake get out of the past, 2001 calling, get back to the future. You could have put that money towards Gamecube or an extra Gamecube game. N64 in this day and age, it just makes no sense unless you are 5 or 9 years old. Well it's your thing, have fun. How does it feel to be knocked, that's just what you do to everything XBOX all the time. Revenge is sweet. What's next, you going to say N64 is better than XBOX. Is it a money thing, do you need a loan? have a nice XBOX day, I'm having one, and this was payback for all your negativity, enough said. :D [ October 20, 2001: Message edited by: Steel Shark ] |
Thanks everyone! I'll check out those GameSpot reviews and see which ones look good. I'm definitely going to have a look at some of the Pokemon games (yes, I like Pokemon. Sue me).
Edit: Oh yeah, I noticed you mentioned the GameCube, Steel. Is it going to be backwards compatible with N64 games? If it is, I'll just get one of those. [ October 20, 2001: Message edited by: One, Two, Middlesboogie ] |
I can tell you the Nintendo is not famous for making consoles that are backwards compatible(which Sony did the wise thing and made the PS2 backwards compatiable). The GameCube will be using CDs if I remember correctly, so I am afraid you are out of luck there.

Oh well, you can't have everything...
Anyway, I did some poking around on GameSpot and IGN, and these are the games I'm going to get: WipEout 64 (like, duh) Pokemon Stadium 2 Donkey Kong 64 Conker's Bad Fur Day (if my parents will let me have it) 1080 Snowboarding Buck Bumble Tonic Trouble Super Smash Bros Mario Kart 64 Super Mario 64 Excitebike 64 Banjo-Kazooie :
And Steel, wasn't it you who said, "I've always said own them [consoles] all if you can"? |
"Gotta catch 'em all...CONSOLES!!"
Heh Heh. I think my favorite game is Super Smash Bros. But that's the only N64 game I really like, so I'm not gonna get an N64 for it. Although Super Smash Bros. Melee is coming out for Gamecube...Looks VERY cool... So N64 isn't a waste of money by any standard...but think about the future my little whachamacallit of insanity... |
The ones from this century, not the ones cavemen played on. Have a nice XBOX day, I'm having one.You should too. :D
I mean I gave mine away a couple years ago to the 8 tear old kid down the street. [ October 20, 2001: Message edited by: Steel Shark ] |
Whats wrong with old games and consoles anyway? Sure, they're old, but they're still fun. I myself am a fan of old games. I've got a few on my computer that date back as far as 1991, and earlier.

What's wrong with them for "ME" is that the newer one's offer soooo much more in every capacity, I for one can not even look at them without cringing. But if it's your thing have fun. I did with those very machines, a long, looooooooooooong time ago. ;)

Dark Hood has a point. I mean sure they are old...but if you think about it some of the older games provide a challenge. The main characters don't have the special moves and such that we take for granted in todays games (you didn't have PacMan blasting the Ghosts with fireballs or Mario using a bomb to wipe out a gang of Koopas).
In this case the saying is...'Oldies...but Goodies' and we shouldn't turn are back on them completely just because of the new state of the art games. |
Uh oh, I can see where this is going... another bloody console war!
Let's just agree to disagree and kill this debate before it starts... some of use like the N64, some of us don't, and it'd be a boring world if we all liked the same consoles. I made this topic to find out what good games are available for the N64, so if you can't contribute to that field, please don't reply, or we'll have yet another ruined topic. *hands out choccy biccies to everyone* |
