Spoiling the fun
I have a problem. When MO is gonna come out, A LOT off forummembers are gonna talk about it. And honestly, I don't want the hear the stuff if I can't join the fun till March 2002. I have 4 solutions, vote, or give me another possible solution.
1. I don't visit the Forums till then (but that's not what I want) 2. I keep comming and DO read the things (but then my MO experience will not be that intence offcourse) 3. NOBODY can talk about it! (But then it wouldn't be a good forum anymore) 4. Sydney and Abebabe need to create a seperate room for Spoiling-the-fun-for-the-one's-who-don't-have-MO-yet-TOPICS (If that's possible offcourse) I started this topic because I think there are more members with the same feeling. |
Yes Oddipus, I think the same...
I think the better alternative is the 4- because I I don't want the hear the stuff the another possibility is don't visit the Forums until I buy the game in europe but... :( :( :( :( :( |
hmmmm, i'm kinda half-and-half on this...
part of me says: "Don't read anything about MO cos it'll spoil it for me" another part of me says: "It's a game, not a movie...these things are completely individual" and a much smaller part says: "Get an NTSC Xbox, an NTSC TV and NTSC games so i don't have to wait" - probably not going to do that... hmmm...can't decide...damn Microsoft!!! |
I agree with the separate forum idea. Sydney or Abe Babe, if either of you are reading this, I think that this would be an excellent idea to prevent those who can't immedidiately get MO from inadvertantly reading anything which would spoil the game for them.

I think it's a very good idee to do another forum...
|
i saw this thing on an FF forum...
when people post spoiling things they simply add "(spoiler)" to the topic name easy -- another thing you can do is:

Yeah, or u can't write any fing in the tiltle to give the game away! (If u can't have a seperate Forum)!!!
|
I think the separate forum is the best idea. Think about it: when you do finally get the game, or decide you'd like to read the spoilers, they're all together in one place for you to spend days sorting through, instead of weeks finding them.

Yeah, I'm gonna get Munch at launch, but I don't want the people who don't sleep for like 4 days after the launch and beat it to start topics that say stuff like "Munch is Molluck's Son!" across it and spoiling the fun for everyone. Part of the fun of the Oddworld games is all the plot turns and twists, and knowing all of them before they happen...Of course for all we know their could be like 100 different endings depending on how your Quarma ends up.

I think it would be a good idear to have a separate forum because I won't be getting 1 till 2002 and I really don't want to hear all the talk about mo on how good it is and stuff
|
I've read a few good alternatives. Thanx.
But AbeBabe or Sydney, could you please post an answer about what should/will happen? :) |
Certainly something we need to consider. It seems to be handled 2 ways on other forums on games in this kind of situation...
- Posts marked with "SPOILER" (very hard to administrate, as some people might forget/not realize the rule and post stuff anyway. - Additional forum (not sure if we really want another forum however) I'm sure this will be something myself and Sydney will be discussing in the upcoming month or so. I myself am pre-ordering from the US, but Sydney on the other hand I think is waiting until the Australian release, so he won't want to read any spoilers either. I don't think we could stop people from actually talking about it... especially since we will have new members. Gluk Schmuck, your idea would be good... but my web-programming isn't that advanced... and I've yet to see a hack that could even be modified to do that. Although whatever we put in place, we won't be able to stop the inevitable happening... someone posting something where they shouldn't or how they shouldn't. Abe Babe... |
Ok, thank you, I'm sure you'll let us know which decision you have made.
