POLL: Creepiest Videogame

I say, Silent Hill 2.The part where the "thing" comes out from under the milk truck(thats the only way to describe it, its a human but with its head melted to the side of its neck and its arms are "inside of it)made me through the controller across the room.

MakaveliThaDon 01-01-2002 03:31 PM

i say either silent hill or the first resident evil

Gluk Schmuck 01-01-2002 04:38 PM

The creepiest game I have played is MGS but I haven't played Silent Hill or Resident Evil.

BTW, I don't think thowing your controller will kill that 'thing', it's more likely to kill the controller.

glukkon_daniel 01-01-2002 04:52 PM

Gluk Schmuck? Are you okay? Because you seem to have put MGS as the creepiest game... Perhaps it was a mistake.

Anyway, I think Silent Hill 2 is definitely the creepiest game. I've beaten it once. I still need to beat it 3 more times. It just gets scarier and scarier the farther you go. I love it.

Gluk Schmuck 01-01-2002 05:15 PM

It's the creepiEST game I OWN and/or HAVE PLAYED.

Sorry if I've never played a survival-horror/slash-em-up.
Can you recomend any creepy games for the PSX?

General Grakkus 01-01-2002 05:42 PM

Silent Hill 1, Resident Evil 1,2,3,Resident Evil Survivor, SystemShock (I think?) are all great horror games.

toxicity 01-01-2002 09:01 PM

RESIDENT EVIL 2 !!! :(

Danny 01-01-2002 09:30 PM

Minesweeper.

abe22 01-01-2002 09:40 PM

A couple of years ago we had this game on our computer it was called 'Solitaire.' It's just like the normal game of solitaire but when you click on the card and click it to where you want it to go it stands up and walks by its self and they have these evil faces. Not really creepy but it was disturbing for some reason. But since our computer cracked up we lost everything including this game a shame because it was better then the normal one.

Oddness 01-01-2002 10:00 PM

The 11th Hour. That gave me nightmares  (hey, I was only 11! :P )

Eibu 01-01-2002 10:31 PM

Well as far as "creepyness" I'd have to say the Silent Hill series...however if you really want to scare ME in a game, put in a time limit, anywhere, or throughout the whole game if you want to kill me!

Curses go out to: final stages of Oddworld, Brave Fencer Musashi, Burn Cycle, Parasite Eve and D.

Disgruntled Intern 01-01-2002 10:46 PM

Silent Hill series for sure.
While resident evil had it's startling moments, i just couldn't stop laughing at the zombies on the first RE..they sounded a bit..er..Mentally SLOW...and i just thought the story was a little stupid for the RE games anyway.
"Ooooh i know! lets make a virus that turns people into Zombies and horribly mutated creatures for some reason! Best of all, no one will suspect us with a nice name like 'UMBRELLA'!!!"

Surfacing 01-01-2002 11:20 PM

Resident evil 2 on dreamcast, try playing that game by u'r self at night.

The Magog On The March 01-02-2002 12:10 AM

Definatly Silent Hill.. heh, the scariest thing about Resident Evil 1 was the voice acting (actually, the reason I liked RE1 was the horrid voice acting.. "you were almost a Jill sandwich!") But still, RE was scary for a while, but after the 75th time something would jump through something else to try and scare me, it just got to the point of "yeah yeah yeah, whatever." But with Silent hill 1 (the scariest in my opinion) you get t.v's showing the imagine of the characters daughter (Cheryl) being cruicified! Silent Hill was MUCH more disturbing. (I always get into arguments about which game is scarier, RE or SH :D ) Plus, i think SH2 is the first game to actually have a main character commit suicide in a really dark, depressing way (not like saving some other people by diving in front of a bullet, we're talking about just plain suicide!)
Anywhoo that's just my opinion. (I'm also a horror movie geek :D )

Oi, silent hill 2 don't scare me, and I'm just turning 12!

And SH2 rocks, YEAH!!! If you own a psx2 get it! If you've got it, play it! Now! It's better than oddworld! (infact I reallydon't like oddworld anymore so PTTTTTT! :p

Cloverfield 01-02-2002 01:52 AM

I haven't played too many horror games, but the original Silent Hill is pretty freaky. Especially at the start where he's looking for his daughter and he goes down the alley and sees the crucified body.

That game really does well to create an atomosphere and give you a mindset that something is going to "get you".

I never finished it actually (I got to where it turns dark and he's got to go to the school), as I got playing one of the FF games and haven't had a chance to continue playing it since.

Half-Life was pretty creepy.

System Shock was very creepy. I can't wait to play System Shock 2 when I get a decent computer.

I haven't played any of the Resident Evil or Silent Hill games, but I'd like to some time.

Hands down the creepiest game I've ever played was Neil Manke's "They Hunger" mods for Half-Life (it's a trilogy). I was happy when it was announced that the third game was the last of the series because my nerves were shot from wondering when the next zombie was going to come popping out of some dark corner. I just couldn't do it anymore.

paramiteabe 01-02-2002 11:44 AM

Doom, when it first came out for the PC. Thatwas the first real game that was played like that.

Al the Vykker 01-02-2002 04:18 PM

Besides silent hill 2 and resident evil, I think it was very creepy with the flood in halo I mean they pop out of vents and when you see the stuff dripping from the ceiling its very freaky, plus when you think they are dead they pop back up at you.

Wayne's World
It wasn't scary here say, but it was that bad that it was scary.

Silverload for the PSX. If anyone has heard of this or even played it, you would know how scary this game is. At one point I didn't want to go on, and I actually turned off the game (I was like ten, but still).

oddite4456 01-03-2002 12:14 AM

RE is kind of scary, but I'd have to say Silent Hill 1 & 2 are the creepiest. The gameplay is scary enough, but after you play it for a couple hours and turn it off and then look into a dark corner of you room... *shivers*

Also, in the intro of AE- when Abe says the part about the blind mudokons, and the one turns around...well, it was more disturbing then scary, though.

The Magog On The March 01-03-2002 03:24 AM

Silverload! lol :D I didn't really find that game scary, but pretty funny at times. Then again I'm the kinda guy who laughs when the Jeep gets flipped over on top of my best friend on Halo Co-op

Melvin:squeeking paramite 01-03-2002 04:01 PM

I haven't played Silent Hill 2, but I thought some parts of Silent Hill were pretty creepy and suspenseful. Those little translucent thinks that squeaked were pretty scary...
The RE games are some of my favorites, but I never found them too scary... and the first one was horrid... hehe, the voice-overs were hilarious though.
The first time I played AO, I thought it was quite creepy and disturbing... and I still love it!
Sanitarium. I doubt any one here has ever played it, it is a very obscure computer game. The second level is full of deformed, tormented children and it is very sad and creepy. One of my favorite games, along with the Oddworld series.

Doug 01-03-2002 05:34 PM

I haven't played Sanitarium yet, but I have it on my shelf of bargain bin finds waiting to be played -- it looks great. EBWorld carries it, I think for $15. I also have the Blackstone Chronicles, which seems somewhat similar, although I haven't really looked at them lately.

•[cyrus]• 01-03-2002 06:24 PM

The scariest game that "I" ever played was Resident evil 2 .............. I think that Resident Evil Nemisis was too, too ,too ,too "SHORT" and wasn't scary at all....... Scilent Hilll seams kind of freaky , but I've never played it....

Mudokon101...

One, Two, Middlesboogie 01-03-2002 06:33 PM

I thought AO was dead scary when I first got it. It still is the 'creepiest' of all the videogames I own; I don't buy anything scary.
Oh wait, I do have Tomb Raider III, but I don't play on it because it makes me too tense and nervous, so that'll have to take the award.

Like Eibu, I hate anything time-limited; really gets the adrenaline flowing.

I've done that before I kept throwing the controller at the T.V. because my game was cheating, until it finally broke, then I had to by a really crappy generic one that only reaches 5 inches.

The Magog On The March 01-03-2002 08:33 PM

Oh yeah, and on the topic of Halo being creepy... Yeah, I've seen the Flood, when they were called Head Crabs on Half Life. I mean c'mon people, is it not completely obvious they ripped off of the head crabs, even the "zombies" on Half Life look a LOT like the "zombies" on Halo.
