I went to see it and hired it out to watch on DVD.
Most critics and people say it sucked, but i disagree, it is fantastic. The graphics, the storyline, everything. The music i found wasn't all the greatest but it was good ![]() |
If you go on disk 2 of FF:TSW, they show you how they made the movie (DVD) :D

Final Fantasy is a cool movie. I like it. But i think AbeBabe love it. She is one of the biggest fan at the world....HeHe. The effects are really cool and the characters too. - TBS |
I'm a huge fan of Final Fantasy (my license plate says CHOCOBO) but...
...the movie didn't do much for me. Of course the graphics were fantastic and unbelievable (I thought Sid was real sometimes). Being a diehard FF fan I was a bit dissapointed. Not because it didn't have anything to do with swords and magic or because it had few game references (which it could have used) but because it was a mediocre, at best, story. The overall plot was an interesting one but the way the movie played out was like a cheap sci-fi flick from the 80's. Square, what were you thinking? The plot to the ORIGINAL FF was more compelling. Throw in some time travel, give Grey a sword, and why not have big yellow birds? They could have made it believable. Oh well References to the games: Dr. Sid (Cid) Chocobos (magazine said it had three references but I missed them all) Ragnorok, Aki's ship. (swords and airship name from the games) Right now I'm following the anime TV series Final Fantasy Unlimitted (subtitled by Soldats if you're interested). A 52 episode series still airing in Japan, the subs are up to 8 and I believe they should be in the late teens, early 20's in Japan on TV. While the story seems a little strange the show is chock full of game references and interesting characters. I would take this over the movie. BTW has anybody else seen the four OAV's of Final Fantasy based after FFV? I've had them for a long long time but I think they came out in English a few years ago. These were "OK". |
If any of you have been to www.neopets.com theres a FF guild that has the music from FF9

I..hated that movie! It was ALMOST as bad as Dungeons and Dragons! Me and my friend just sat there and made fun of it the whole time (and were nearly kicked out twice) "Oh! The eagle survived! HURRAAAAY!"

I actually loved the movie! :) Anyone that was on the forums about 6 months ago would remember the number of times I went to see it in the cinemas... I think it ended up being 16 times.
I have the DVD also, but to be honest I haven't really watched it much (probably because I am too busy playing Munch's Oddysee at the moment, and before that my ongoing PC problems left me with no DVD player). It's actually very different to the games, apart from the references that Eibu mentioned (I couldn't find the Chocobo either!). Although I am also a fan of sci-fi, which is probably why I liked it. I think the main reasons it didn't go well though were because the plot required some understanding and needed to be watched more than once (actually the DVD is selling quite well for this reason, and is still in the top 10 of the DVD charts I have seen lately). Also the bad guy (General Hyne) was a bit one-dimensional, he missed something to give him the classic FF bad guy aspect. It was also expected to go well in Japan, but didn't their either... but I think that was because it wasn't enough LIKE the games. Eibu... I just got the FF Unlimited Anime. I have the first six episodes, but I haven't got around to watching them yet. My brother has watched three of them though and said they are really good. They are more in the style of Final Fantasy than the movie is. I had seen the first of the old FF Legends of the Crystals anime in English, but that was the only episode I had been able to pick up anywhere here. I think it was pretty good from what I saw, considering I'm not really a big anime fan. Abe Babe... |
Giants: Citizen Kabuto is a great game. The cutscenes alone are better than FF:TSW
