What your name really means...

Ok, I have been translating what our names actually mean... listen to some of these...

Daniel(for Rettick and Daniel Brown): Ok, this one is pretty funny considering the two. Dan means God is my judge! Hehehe...

Melvin mean mill worker... yech. Well, my real name is Dylan, and the name Dillon means faithful. I have actually heard that Dylan is also the dark god of the sea.

Joe(the intern) means God will increase, whatever the hell that means... his real name, Morgan, however means From the sea...

Sydney means Contraction of St. Denys... hmm...

Anna (middlesboogie) means gracious... odd, she once described herself in one word as selfish..

Tom (gluk schmuck) means a twin... we'll just have to hear what he says about that one.

Rex (tirano) means king... I wonder what she thinks of that one...

Rach (dragadon) means... hehe... innocent lamb! Eee, this is quite fun...

Steve (Steve and Steve the gabbit) means crown.

Emily (black dragon) means Industrious, Flatterer...

Eddie, for DH, means happy gaurdian...

Scott (For fuzzyzuzzle)means of scottish origin.. another we'll have to see about...

Claudia (alector) means the feminine form of Claude... Claude means, well, lame.

Kristen (Abe babe)means christ-bearer. Well, that fits, being an admin and all...

Ok, those are all the ones i've done right now.... if i missed any one, just go to http://babynames.com/V5/index.php and translate your name... i have no idea why i came to this friggin' site, but its quite fun translating names! Share what you think, every one...

xavier => new house
what the hell means that ?

Fazerina 01-27-2002 10:23 AM

My real name is Jenni. So the closest thing means white wave. Hmm...

FuzzyFuzzle 01-27-2002 10:48 AM

Kooky Mel...I've also heard my name meaning "tattoo" because Scots often had tatoos. And FYI, I am tatooless :)

DarkHoodness 01-27-2002 12:32 PM

Eddie isn't my proper name. It's short for Edmund, which is my full name, but I don't like it.

EDMUND
Gender: Male
Origin: Old English
Meaning: Rich Protector, Blessed Protector

Not me at all. Okay, I can (and will) protect peeps (eg. my friends, family and pets), but I'm not rich. Infact I'm pretty much skint expect for £50 which I plan to spend on a digicam pretty soon. I'm not blessed either, since I am non-religios, and therefore haven't been baptised.
Oh well, my name was taken from a king who I know nothing about. Edmund Ionside. I think he was one of my dads heros or something.

Anyway, I also found another name serch engine which is half decent, since my full name wasn't on the one you suggested, Mel.

I suggest that you all try your names on both of them:

One, Two, Middlesboogie 01-27-2002 02:12 PM

Eee, good fun!

My first name is of Hebrew origin? Didn't know that...

I tried my middle and surnames there too:
Ghislaine: no matches found. :(
Williams: I love researching the history of surnames, and I already knew that 'Williams' means 'son of William' (as do Williamson, Willis, Wills, Wilson, Wilcox, Wilkinson, Wilkins, Willet, Wilmot, and Wilcock). But the name 'William' apparently means 'desire to protect'.

Danny 01-27-2002 02:44 PM

How ironic...

ILLES 01-28-2002 09:57 AM

according to the christian bible Michael means "the godly one" kinda ironic since I don't even believe in god

Cool Paramite 01-28-2002 03:02 PM

My name is not on the site, but I know what it means. It's Matthijs, which comes from the Greek name Mattheus, and that means: "Gift from God".

And my middle name, Jonathan, means... the same!

BTW: Mattheus is my REAL name, to be honest. But nobody ever uses that name, I'm always called Matthijs (pronounce this the Dutch way...). But hey, I've got a Greek name to be used in the Greek lessons! (Yes, I am on Gymnasium.... it's hard that is....)

Whistling kettle 01-29-2002 02:23 PM

OK that's not a good joke. My real name is
Michaël :) :). But I don't know what it means.
That's what I wanted to say...

Oddness 02-01-2002 04:48 AM

I don't care how many sites and books say it, I am *not* loveable! :p

MudokonOddball 02-01-2002 08:21 AM

My name is Corey, and in the "Best Baby Name Book in the World" book that I own, Corey means "of the hollow log".
...?
But on the site that Melvin gave us, my name means only "the hollow". Hah! My book is better!! I guess the people at the site didn't want people to dislike their site cuz they gave them a negative meaning for their name. Yeah, that's it.
