My Website - Take 4

Here goes my fourth attempt at creating an Oddworld website - just imagine it: all my knowledge in one place, for paople all over the world at any time.

But I've still got the same troubles as last time, the main one being - I don't know the slightest bit about HTML or whatever websites use.

What I am doing in the meantime is writing down everything I want the website to say, sorting out what links to what, what pictures I'll need, how the design'll go, what navigation system I could/should use, and all the fun stuff.

If anyone's willing to teach me HTML of whatever, or recomend a good book available in the UK or online, I'd be grateful. If someone's willing to submit a place where I can get a hold of a free URL-thing, even better.

Just for the record, my last attempt, which had the help of Sydney, went head-over-heals when my computer contracted a virus which destroyed the hard drive (physically). Since, I've had a new C and D Drive, and a new email address.

Oh, by the way, could someone address aumz@cwcom.net ? That's my email and it's totally mucked up, in that I'm getting at least two other peaople's emails. I'd like to know if I'm getting my messages okay.

Amazingly thankful for your time,
Max the Mug

Hello, Max! Finnaly we will have our own On-Line Oddworld Enciclopaedia.

For a quick start, try to use WYSIWYG(what you see is what you get) html page editors (Microsoft Frontpage or Netscape Composer). These tools allow you the edit your page as if you were editing a word-like document, while the html code is created automatically. For example, if you want a table, you can create tables just using the mouse, while the HTML code is created in the background.

Good luck, I hope your web site can be on-line very, very soon!!

i learnt by looking at simple sites and seeing what stuff did, then i experimented, then i got a beginners book, then i got a reference book...

try starting off with a "dummy's guide to HTML" or "complete idiot's guide", or even some site...then experiment a little...then when you get really good, just get a ref book...
