I called the grandparents on my father's side Nanny and Poppy, until Nanny died.

I called the grandparents on my mother's side Grandma and Grandpa, until my Grandpa died.

Euh.. I don't speak English to my parents of course.. But I use the Finnish words "äiti" and "isä" which mean just the usual "mom" and "dad".

I have always called my grandparents (from my father's side) by their first names. That's kinda funny. They asked for my sister and me to do so cause they would've felt themselves old if they've been called grand parents or something.. In my opinion that's silly. When I talked to my friends about them I always talked about my grandmother and my grandfather..

Parents: Doina and Chris. 'Doina''s real name is Diana, but my brother Oli pronounces it as 'Doina', and the name stuck.

Grandparents: Granny & Grandpa. Same for both sides, but my maternal grandfather isn't alive.

I'm weird. I have never, not even when I was a child, referred to my parents as "Mum" or "Dad". My entire family have always been called by their first names by me... My mother [Cath] used to get a bit upset at it when I was little, but she's used to it now.

Until I saw your last post, Anna, I thought I was the only person to call my parents by their first names...

I call my mother 'mother, mom, sweetheart ect.'
I haven't seen my father for ages, I probably would call him dirty b*****

I call my grandpa 'Opi'
and my grandma 'Omi'
