The Oddworld Forums FAQ
 

This FAQ is (mainly) for newbies, to help them not annoy me (and hense live):


1. Munch's Oddysee has been anounced as 'Xbox Xclusive' and says 'Only On Xbox' on the cover so, no, Munch's Oddysee will NOT be coming out on any other system.

2. The amount of stars you have under your status depends on how many posts you have (see #4).

3. Your status (under your name) changes according to how many posts you have (see #4).

4. DO NOT SPAM under any circumstances.

4.a. Spam is a post which are in the wrong forum, don't make sense, make no valid point, are there just to annoy/baffle, or any combination of the above.

5. You can preview a post to see what it will look like when you actually post it by pressing the 'Preview' button next to the 'Post' button.

6. You can edit a post by pressing the http://www.oddworldian.net/oddworldf.../edit_ubb6.gif button above your post.

7. You can post an image by pressing the http://www.oddworldian.net/oddworldforums/ubb/image.gif button then typing or pasting the URL or an image into the dialog box.

8.a. To get a personal photo, go to 'my profile', 'View/Update Profile' then when you get to the row labelled 'Personal Photo' you should be able to work it out.

8.b. To get a signature at the end of each post, scroll a little down from 'Personal Photo' on the 'View/Update Profile' page and there is a row labelled 'Signature', just type what you want into the text area. To add an image, type
[*img]http://www.mysite.com/image.jpg[/*img]
but just remove the '*'s and replace the URL with one of your own.

9. Make sure you post the right things in the right room:
Put anything about Munch's Oddysee in the 'Spoiler Forum' (http://www.oddworldian.net/oddworldf...licy_small.gif)
Put general Oddworld things in 'General Oddworld Discussion'
Ask for help in the games in 'Oddworld Help'
Post anything like pictures and fan fictions in 'Fan Corner'
Post anything else in 'Off-Topic'
And if you decide to join the RPG, please do not jump straight into the RPG, please read this first.

10. Obay the rules at all times.

11. Signal all lane changes.

12. Do not stick your tongue into a live electrical outlet.

13. Don't eat the yellow snow.

14. The white zone is for loading and unloading only.

15. Do not pet the scrabs, paramites, slogs, sloggies, fleeches, or sligs, whether crawling, flying, or just plain packing heat.

And one more thing Could you please try not to use stuff like:
U plz
It really gets annoying sometimes.

For the Fan Corner:

1: Only Oddworld related fiction is allowed.

2: Off-topics pics are allowed, but do not be excessive, be sure to have equal to or most of the pics you post are Oddworld related.

3: Battle type topics will no longer be allowed. Oddworld related ones should be in the RPG section. Non-oddworld ones should be in Off-Topic.

And last and most important...

4: Beware the dragon and her Drakkics *evil grin*

I think a lot of the newbies here could benefit from this, so I'm going to spam this back to the top. Maybe the admins could include a link to it along with the rules in the top right corner of the screen?

Ah, this post is not totally spam anymore, I've thought of some more:

If you want to send a message to just one person, do not start a new topic about it, as some people seem to have been doing. If you want to send a message to just one person, find a post made by them and click on this icon: http://www.oddworldian.net/oddworldf...iv_message.gif

The admins and mods get custom pics. Please, no more posts like "how did Pilot/Grid/Lampion/etc get a picture that is not in the list?".

I saw something asked about this a while ago, so...
Another amendment:
- Member ratings have been disabled on this board.

Although some regualars need to do a review of the rules too.

There are an increasing number of "oversized" signatures on the forums at the moment. The images are OK, but people are breaking the number of lines allowed and the one image per signature rules.

Everyone has 48 hours to fix their signatures, or I'm going to go in there and edit them myself! :) I'm not going to name names, as there are about 5 culprits at the moment I can think of.

I just changed my sig then Abe Babe since I had gone over the 3 lines of text rule with 5 lines of text.

Speaking of the rules, I recently changed the design of the page to fit the current layout of the forums (they were still like the old forums).

Hmmm...
Mine does have two images, but they do not exceed the height limit, and their combined width, although it goes over 400 (the forum maximum) is less than 640 (the lowest possible screen width resolution) pixels, so they can't be causing side-scrolling. Their combined file size is also well under 35 kilobytes. Do I still need to change mine?

I just added some things to my signature yesterday. I didn't know I was breaking the rules.. But I've changed my signature now.. :D
