Web Help!
Hey AbeBabe, Sid, and OddBoBB
AbeBabe: How did you make that Banner on the opening page of your site (www.oddworld.au.com) Sid: How did you make your Banner on your main page with Munch in a wheelchair. (www.oddworldian.net) OddBoBB: How did you make your bubbon for your site? -Thx Drake |
I guess explaining is a little difficult to do. But I use a program called PhotoShop which allows you to manipulate images and use layers to get multiple images into the one picture. Basically takes a bit of playing around and experimenting until you get something right, as well as using built in effects that come with the software.
I believe that Sydney uses Photoshop also. OddBodd's image is an animated gif... which is made up of induvidual images. Using a program like Macromedia Fireworks you can combine these images to create an animation. Abe Babe... |
Abe Babe is right, I use Adobe Photoshop too.
I made the layout on my front page by getting the purplish screenshot featuring the flying meetles, then adding a darkened version of the "Freezer 2314" picture with those green creatures underneath it. I cut it so there could be a place for the text/news. Then I just got a new layer and put the pic of Munch on it and whacked the "Menu" title on. I put the text up the top by typing Oddworldian in a font, copying the background, then pasting it as a new layer. Then a darkened it a little, put a thin white border around it and gave it a drop shadow. Wallah! |
Sydney, I'm not trying to tell you what to do but I think your sig would be better if your Oddworldian logo was the link to your site rather than having the logo with the text link underneath, like Abe Babe has done.
|
I agree Pacen. The only problem is that signatures don't allow HTML, and the UBB puts a thick border around any image you use to link. The only way to get rid of a border is to put border="0" in the tag, which doesn't work with UBB.
Because my link graphic has transparent areas, I don't think a border around it would look very good. |
Oh, I didn't know about that. I didn't notice with Abe Babe's pic because it goes well with it :)
A border around yours wouldn't look real good though. I know I've asked this billions (under-exaggeration) of times but will you guys be allowing HTML in posts via a hack anytime soon? |
I was spending quite sometime over at the UBB hack site last night and didn't come across anything about HTML in sigs.
However, I did find a hack that will allow you to create more UBB codes... including centering, underline, font sizes, font face, colors, Shockwave (you'll like that one Pacen) and some other stuff. It could possibly be something that we could impliment. This would also allow you to use the additional UBB codes in your sig. Abe Babe... |
I like the link under the banner..
|
Woohoo! Shockwave sigs! You've made me very happy Abe Babe :)
I suppose it's not as good as complete HTML but it's almost as good, which is good enough for me. Thanks Abe Babe, please strongly consider it's implementation. ;) |
hey sydney the way you did your site is awsome and simple. i have been looking for a way to make a cool web page and i finally found it thanks a lot.
