Web Pages
Hey, I decided I wanted to create an Oddworld page; but then I realized I had NO CLUE where to begin! Can somebody help me? Like Abe Babe or someone with a web page?

Well, it's kind of hard to explain how to make a webpage, unless you mean by the HTML basics... I think if you just decide what you like, try to build a theme up around it... Go and have a look at other sites, get an idea of what works and what doesn't, just remember you need a disclaimer in there somewhere....

Thanks, Teal. Is nessesary to buy special software to create a web page? (I don't mean to sound like an idiot but I just know next to nothing about the creation of web pages).
Are there any tutorials,FAQ sites,...etc. on making web pages that can be found on the net? [ November 15, 2001: Message edited by: oddite4456 ] |

You know, I use Microsoft word for creating webpages. It's really simple. Don't be misled by my stupid website, I'm creating a muuuuuuuuuuuuuch better one! But how to add lines like this in word?
I can do it in HTML, but then, I don't know where it will show up on my page because I am a HTML stupid! |
Hello, folks!
This a very good tutorial site for begginers, and I mean REAL begginers! If you don't have a clue of what Web design is, this is the place! www.visualtutorials.com To do the lessons you will need a web browser (internet explorer is fine) and a text editor (notepad for Windows is enough). There is a menu to the right. Choose Web Design and start your visual lessons for free. |
No no NO C.P! You use publisher or editor if you want to create a page!

Why do I hate Word for web pages so much... because it ads so much crap and rubbish to the HTML that is not needed. If you understand HTML, look at the source code of a page done in Word and you'll see why. So much crap, it's not funny. Anyways, I do a lot of my pages in FrontPage (the day Microsoft adds Word coding to FrontPage, I will curse), as my site(s) are often quite complex and the tables get messed up if being coded. However, I do simple pages in HTML and also like to look at the source code to fix problems that FrontPage doesn't notice. I would have suggested a HTML Help site... but Lampion already beat me too it. Oddite... it's nice that you want advice from me, but believe me, start basic. I've been doing web-design for 5 years and it is also part of my job at work. :) One guy at work tried to start with complex stuff... and he spends half a day trying to fix a table!!! And then I usually have to look at it for him!!! I wish you good luck with your site. Abe Babe... |
SEE!? A.B even said so!

Thanks a lot for your help. Lampion, the link you sent me was LOADS of help. I hope to get my site running in a few weeks; visit it if you get a chance! I'm calling it "THE ODDYSEE". Thanks again.
