There aren't any asians because on this forums you have to speak English! And well face it they probably don't learn! But it is great that Kiyara's here and making an effort!

Rex, please keep your racist comments to yourself. Just because someone is from an Asian country, doesn't mean they can't speak English. I work with a couple of Asians (one Japanese and one Vietmanese) and both speak perfect English. A friend from school was Philipino also.

I have also seen many Asians online who speak fine English ... especially at Final Fantasy Forums. And really, it doesn't matter if someone can't speak perfect English, as long as they make an effort.

Kiyara and any other Asians, please ignore these comments... they are not the views of other members of the forum. We welcome anyone from any race and background.

Abe Babe...

That's well said, AbeBabe. I agree totally.

We speak english in this forum due to the fact that English is the most used language around the world, meaning that you can find English speakers in any big city of the world, without an exception. But it is not spoken by a great majority of the world population. Chinese, for instance, is spoken by almost one fifth of the whole human population. We don't use chinese as an international language because most of the chinese speakers live in China.

English is not my natural language, but I consider it a very easy language to learn. I learned it when I was a teenager and today I guess I have an average level of knowledge to express myself using English.

You would be very, very surprised if you know how many people in Asia actually speak English. Just to give an example, there is more chinese students of English than the ammount of american inhabitants.

The second language of Japan and the Asian "tigers" is the English, because most of their business are made with the Ocident.

Probably you will discover that there are more english speakers in Asia than in Europe, or even in North America.

Gluk Schmuck 11-05-2001 05:22 PM

since this has turned into a debate about who can speak English and who can't...i'll join in

i know some Asians who can speak English...i don't know any Asians who can't speak English...if i did, i probably wouldn't be great friends with them considering i don't know any language well enough to comunicate with them...
my mum's learning Urdu though, and i've learnt a bit (if you don't already know, Urdu's a language spoken in some Asian countries)...

Kuda Hafis
(i'll probably never learn how to write it though)

You find english an easy language to learn, Lampion? I've always been told that it's one of the most difficult, although of course I don't know myself, as English is my first Language.

My mother speaks a little Urdu, Bengali, and two other Asian languages [I forget which], because she is a Language-Support Teacher, and works with children [mainly Asian] who are learning English as a second [or third] language. Unfortunately, I don't know any of those languages...

Kiyara, is English your first language, then? If not, what is?

Philian 11-07-2001 06:00 AM

sorry I could not answer for a while, I have
not been visiting the forums.

I know some Tagalog like carabao if that's
how you spell it. It means bull or cow does'nt it. my mum's always speaking Tagalog on the
phone and I don't know what she is saying.
I wan't to learn Tagalog, it's good to know
more than one language. :)
