Uh...one question?

Just one question that has been bugging me about the forums......

What's your favorite band?

Rex Tirano 10-23-2001 01:03 PM

Destinys Child and Gorrilaz (LP isn't far behind)

Cloverfield 10-23-2001 01:21 PM

My favorite band is Metallica and my favorite composer is Nobuo Uematsu (FF music). :)

Abe Babe...

Robbo 10-23-2001 05:17 PM

2 words: Linken Park!

Black Dragon 10-23-2001 06:14 PM

My all time fav band would have to be Creed, but I also like Weezer, 3 Doors Down, Alien Ant Farm, and a new-age group called Adiemus. My fav composers are Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach!! (I'm a classical musician, what do you expect?)

Steel Shark 10-23-2001 06:20 PM

That's very cool Black dragon.

Mine is Alphaville, a German group with such depth it's just amazing, style and class with such a beautiful sound and energy. Another is Danny Elfman ( Former lead singer of Oingo boingo)Not so much his Boingo stuff, but his music scores for the big screen, the surreal sounding soundtracks for Edward scissorhands and other off the wall sounds from Tim Burton movies. And one more would be Nobuo Uematsu (FF music). Abe Babe and I have such great taste. ;)

My favourite artist of all time is Jean Michel Jarre. He invented electronica, and he hasn't faded one bit with time.

My favourite singers would have to be David Bowie and Annie Lennox... they can sing so powerfully and with such emotion.

My favourite bands (and I use the word loosely) are The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, the Chemical Brothers, the Space Raiders (authors of the song Middlesboogie ;) ), Leftfield, Genesis, Talking Heads, FSOL, Rammstein, White/Rob Zombie, Rage Against The Machine, Cornershop, Orbital and Autechre.

Jean Michel Jarre pretty much is a composer, but if we're talking classical music, my fav composers are Gustav Holst, Percy Grainger and Antonio Vivaldi.

Ryuhi 10-26-2001 10:27 AM

LOL.....Bands.....

Linkin Park of course because I'm a LP maniac!

But,there's Limp Bizkit,Alien Ant Farm,Freestyle(pinoy band) and...many more...too lazy to list...wait a minute! There's Crazy Town,Papa Roach...uh...I can't list anymore because I'm lazy....

My favorite modern musical artists are: TOOL, Nine Inch Nails, and Mr. Bungle.

and as for the classical composers, NO ONE will ever be able to top the genious of JS Bach. He ad libbed all of his fugues. if you know much about fugues, then you know that they are increadibly hard to compose when you have time to sit there and work it all out with a keybord, but this man just made them up off the top of his head. that's the reason we have so many of his organ peices, is because he played for the church, and everytime he played he had his students copying the three different parts of the fugue, and then they would compare notes and put the whole piece together. he had, what i think is, a complete mastery of music theory. which is truly amazing. Grainger was also a revolutionary, and if played correctly his peices can make me cry. i also love Elliot del Borgo. and of course Danny Elfman for his wondefully dark soundtracks (nightmare before christmas is one of my favorite movies). and last but not least is Phillip Glass. if any of you musicians out there haven't heard any of his stuff, go out and buy one of his cds, they are amazing.

black dragon, what do you play? I'm a classicaly trained saxophonist, turned jazz saxophonist. i was a music major for a couple of years in college until i realized that i could make quite a bit more money with computers.

Linkin Park!

I LOVE that song that's like, "And now for a lesson in r-r-r-rhythm m-m-m-management", but I forget what it's called. That is the coolest beat I have ever heard!

landomeMUNCH 10-26-2001 08:42 PM

it's called "Cure of the Itch" or somethin like that, but it's a tight song, espicially when you turn up the bass

PinkHaired Mudokon CWR 10-26-2001 11:40 PM

Gorillaz are okay. My favorite singers are KeKe, Kelly Price and Alicia Keys.

One, Two, Middlesboogie 10-27-2001 10:06 AM

Conzumah - have you heard Glass's album that he did with David Bowie and Brian Eno? It's a brilliant fusion of Bowie's pieces and timeless classical.

Gluk Schmuck 10-27-2001 10:57 AM

i don't have any REAL favs...
but i like:
  • the FF music
  • Gorilaz
  • some others

Steel Shark, I love Danny Elfman's scores for Tim Burton movies too! I've always been a big fan of Tim Burton, although I can't say a great deal about his latest film, Planet of the Apes. He wasn't happy with it either.

My favorite bands are Smashing Pumpkins, Marcy Playground, Placebo and others. I like classical, though I am not a connoisseur of the genre, my parents just have a lot of it; I tolerate it.

I told you this on MSN, but I'll say it again: I'm mainly a bassoonist, but I'm also a tenor sax player and clarinetist. Now the other stuff you didn't tell me :) I'm in concert band, a Philharmonic, jazz band, was in a woodwind quintet, and I am saxophone section leader in my competitive marching band. I've been playign clarinet for 6 years, bassoon for 4, and sax for 2. I plan on being a music major, as I am a die-hard musician and, not to sound big-headed, but am very good. *Points to wall full of awards on wall* But I'll probably end up like you: switching music for computers, heh.
