PlayStation 2 Price Drop in Australia?
 

I just watched the curtain-raiser game to the AFL Grand Final (for those not in Australia, it's our major Football Final). So what's this got to do w/ the PS2 you ask?

There was an ad on the fence saying that the PS2 was now $499. In Australia the price is usually around the $700 mark.

Looks like quite a major price drop to me. There was smaller writing under the sign that I couldn't read, so I don't know if there's a catch.

Yeah i heard about that there's probably a catch like everything. I got this voucher it said 20% off so I went into the shop and they said you must purchase something over $50 they put it in fine print that you can't even read I hate that its annoying :mad:

Yeah, I saw a big sign in Electronics Boutique for the new priced systems. It's tempting to get one, but I'm holding out for an Xbox until Microsoft says they're going to release a VGA cable for it.

XBox supports VGA, but would MS be stupid enough not to release an accessory this good?

i dont think theyd be that stupid. but here in ths US its still $300. the same price it was when it was released. isnt that pretty stupid? oh well. right now theyre selling like hot cakes. when xbox is released im afraid sony might pull a sega on us. theyre already thinking about the ps3! right i think theyre calling it the xcube. i dont know if its right because i heard this from sal the mud. oh well. but im not going to buy a playstation 2 unless my psx goes out. (btw, i think its on its last legs so it might go out soon :( )

I saw the ad on TV a few times since I posted... I think it must be true. I'm going to get a PS2, but not until Final Fantasy X comes out in Australia. It might be even cheaper then too! :D

The 09/28/01 the PS2 price was drop in Europe too, from 390$ to 278$. Is a good moment to buy it.
