It's official.
SCEJ have gone bonkers.
Yes, they are a full picnic short of a picnic.

SCEJ, to commemerate 20 million sales of their PS2 unit, have released a limited run of PS2 named "European Automobile Collection" (yes, it's really called that!)
You can have a PS2 in one of 5 new colours: White, Chrome, Yellow, Blue or Red. Each has a limited run of 2000 and comes with a coloured controller.

hmmm, spot the odd one out....
black TV,
black cabinet,
black subwoofer system,
black VHS recorder,
lemon yellow PS2.

Doesnt quite match, does it?!

Even more unbelievable, you can buy them in a '6-pack', i.e. one of each colour. WTF? Who the frog wants six PS2s?

They seem to have forgotten that the PS2's target audience is not a bunch of schoolkids who want a lovely red console in their bedrooms.
The chrome one looks quite nice, but it just doesn't suit the PS2, in my opinion. And it's bound to tarnish very quickly, since it'll be made of that horrible plasticky chrome stuff (if they made it out of real chrome it'd probably mess up the electronics inside).

Aaanyway, the point of this topic is this: what colour(s) would you most like to see your favourite console come in?

The GameCube is going to be available in orange, black or purple right from the release date. I've only seen the purple one, but apparently the orange one looks cool.

Before it broke, I used to have a translucent green controller for my PSOne. It looked soooooo cool! I'd really love to have a translucent blue or purple PS2 where you can see all the workings inside. Someone on WipEout Zone said that they'd like to see a crystal clear one.

What do you guys think?

i like the chrome and blue one...but i prefer the good old black PS2. As for the GC, I will probably go for either the purple or black.
As for controllers, I also like the transperent ones, blue and purple for me.*grin*

Apparently the coloured PS2s sold out within minutes! Well, who'd a' thunk?

A while ago there was a purple N64. It looked quite cool, but it had a huge plastic Pikachu stuck to it! Talk about a niche market... I'm a Pokemon fan, but there's no way you'd catch me with one of those next to my TV.

I like your ideas, Tom. I bought a gold controller for my N64 and it looks pretty cool.

Apparently, the very last Dreamcast will have a special surprise included with it. What do people think it'll be? Someone at the PS2 Hardcore board reckoned it'd either come with a free game or peripheral, or be coloured (probably gold or silver).

Has anyone seen those adhesive decorated sheets you can cover your PSX with? They look quite jolly, but you'd have to be really obsessed with one particular game to buy one (all of them are themed with one game; usually Crash, Spyro or Tomb Raider).
I've also seen coloured plastic shells available which you slip onto your PSX. I'd've thought that would've caused overheating, but it's a nice idea.

Xbox have mayby got others color than black in Japan...

The adhesive "Lid Stickers" for PSX also came with a lot of PSM Issues. I've never seen them anywhere else. And BTW, I'd like a clear Green Colored xbox (Same Color as the Xbox "Jewel")

DarkMudoken, that sounds pretty cool. What colour would the 'jewel' be if the rest of the console was green? Would it be black like the normal XBox body is?
I've never actually seen the lid stickers for sale; but the advert for them says they're available in HMV, Elec Boutique, Virgin Megastores, Beatties and so forth.

The purple, blue and turquoise ones look cool. The grassy one looks plain weird, though.

The GameBoys come in various colours... who here has one? I have a transparent purple GBC and a translucent dusky pink GBA.

I really wanted an orange GBA, though, but as yet they're only available in Japan. Apparently, because the GameCube comes in either purple, black or orange, each Cube colour will have a GBA little brother in the same colour.

Here are some articles on the GameCube-coloured GBAs. The orangle and black ones are Japan-exclusive, although if you're really desperate, the articles contain links to somewhere where you can buy one for $100! The purple GBA is on sale in the US, labelled as 'indigo'.

I thought the Green, Blue, and Red Xboxes looked very cool. And from the PS2s, I thought the blue one looked the best, although I still prefer black for a PS2. The other PS2 just looked silly.
