Important Oddworld Forums Announcement
 

The other day we got an email from the server that hosts the webspace Oddworld Forums occupies. They're in the middle of another merge and informed me that Oddworldian.net has not yet merged due to the massive size we're taking up. 150 megabytes, apparently. We were presented with the option to:[list=a][*]Upgrade to a more costly plan.[*]Discontinue the service.[/list=a]Many of you know Pilot has a server of his own. He graciously offered to host the forums, for which we should all be extremely thankful for. So the forums will be moving within the next few days.

More exciting news is that we'll be moving from the UBB to a new software called vBulletin, a similar style forum that has many more features. It's quite an expensive piece of software that Abe Babe has paid for, I'm going to reimburse her with 50% of the costs (since we're both Admins). :)

Rest assured that all posts, accounts and member information will be preserved in the move.

Yeppers, everything is in safe hands. I'm not sure when the official move will take place, but you'll have ample notice of the new address before this server goes down the crapper.

It should be anytime within the next few days.

I have heard of a BB service called PHP BB (www.phpbb.com), which is supposed to be as good as UBB but free, but also without all the annoying bugs of Ikon Board or the ads of ezboard. Thought it might be worth looking into.

Oh boy. Oh well, it won't be as bad as the move from EzBoard to UBB. Infact, it'll hopefully be a lot better. :) I've heard of V Bullitin, and appearently it's very good.

A little while ago I joined a forum which used the same UBB software as this one, yet it had tons more hacks and stuff. Since then I have wanted this forum to get better (though I didn't say anything because I knew it was kind of impossible since Kris and Syd are always busy), and it looks like my prayers are about to be awnswerd. :) Perhaps we can get back to using HTML in our sigs, and having our own personal photos again. :)

Well all i have to say is 150 megabytes!

Wow, thats alot of space but then again you have kept all the old posts from ages ago.

And wow, vbulliten is better, in the sense that it has more features.

Also i'd like to thank Justin for the server space, and Kristen and Sydney for the new vbulliten :)
