I hate to say it, but i don't think i like Abe's new look.. He doesn't look like him at all. I guess i'll just have to get used to it

Dunno what's up with that, but he looks a bit off than what we're used to I think
Can't quite put my finger on it, something with the eyes

Looks like he has Down syndrome, not a fan.

It's new, but I think it's not bad. But don't forget where we are. They will use the wrong green.

..i admit this is like a new level of "its the wrong green" and all, but to be honest we're used to his classic appearance and most of us don't like change

Well, you guys wanted a "darker" SoulStorm.

Don't like it, but i will live through it. Besides the new approach is always a good thing. Yes, he become more creepy, more like the real living thing, not just clumsy puppet with toony colors

Exactly. Also the new feather tail looks way cooler.

He looks more human, and more realistic in general. When comparing this head shot, he has a smaller mouth, his head goes back more rather than upwards and he has eyebrows. I think he won't look too different once there is texture and colour added to the photo. I'm excited to see how it turns out.

That could be an issue though if he ends up looking "too" human. We already identify him as a specifically alien nincompoop and it would be bad to change something too much that made Oddworld what it is

You guys complained about Abe being too goofy in NnT. Now he seems too "realistic" for your taste. You don't know what you want.

The negative response on here and Facebook is quite surprising. Normally I'm in the camp that dislike changes to Oddworld, but I actually really like Abe's design here. Different yes, but I have to say I'm on the positive side.

Yes, and they're the same who embrace (supposedly) the idea of a "re-imagining".

Seems fine to me. It's a bit different, but there's no way that OWI don't know that as well, or wouldn't have expected some degree of negativity from the slight change. This was a conscious choice made on their part and I trust them to know what they're doing.

There was a certain level of goofiness abe could pull off in the originals, I just can't see THIS Abe landing crotch first on a tusk and making that face.

I quite like Abe's new look.

To be fair they couldn't realy give him a nice, cartoonish and happy face if they wanted SoulStorm to be a darker game.

It's different, but I like it. He looks more weary than usual, though.

Yeah, people will complain because it's different, but there's good different and bad different.
With the Monsaic Lines colour, it annoyed me because I saw no reason for them to change it. It didn't add anything, it just looked off. Too bright.

With this change, I really like it (for once). It seems more alien, I have no idea why people think he looks more human. He's right in the centre of the uncanny valley but he still looks like a sympathetic character. No idea how they pulled that off.

He actually really reminds me of concept art Abe (the one with the long hair). I also really like how after all these years we can finally tell what sort of texture his hair is.

He's clearly looking at something. Can anybody tell what this reflection is? It looks like the interior of the Brewery but I can't be sure.

Edit: There's clearly fire there, looks like some kind of explosion.

The new abe fits perfectly.

I like new Abe. If the game sticks to this tone it should be great. Well, not entirely obviously, cause this is Oddworld, but at least partly.

By the way, in his eye, i can see the exterior of Necrum mines, and a flame coming from something like a train.

Whoa. I saw the fire, but not the mines. That's even cooler.

If you look in his right eye (your left stupid), you can make out some shapes more clearly. Looks like a bunch of cylinder shaped objects?

I respect your opinion, but I also hope you're joking. A completely serious Oddworld with no jokes or satire just isn't gonna work. I'd rather see a mixture between darkly-silly and serious.

I like it. It's different, but not totally unrecognizable. What I really love is the new feather pony tail. It looks natural and apart of him, instead of looking stuck on with glue.

Also for those not liking it. Bare in mind that this is a single, uncoloured image from one angle. We've yet to see Abe as a whole. I'm sure once we see the complete picture, he'll look great.

But yeah, I really can't wait to see more.

Man this looks so cool, kudos to Oddworld. The redesign looks different but he seems to look tired, scared, dishevelled and that fits what we know so far about where Abe is at in his story.

This is exciting!

I like it. He looks more alien and birdlike. Not to mention tired and afraid. Really a face to sympathize with.
