What's with all the Guests?
 

Been wondering this since I joined the forum. Why are there always so many guests online? Are they bots? Are they lurkers?

Lurkers.

...Do you two plan stuff like that or is it just a spontaneous thing?

Seriously tho, I am curious as to what all those guests are doing. On the Who's Online, they usually seem to be looking at really old topics.

I think we're both right.

They're really are bots, at least a big part of them.

Those who lurk the ARG aren't bots.

It’s most likely people coming in from search engines. They’ll look up something (probably Oddworld-related) and something in an old thread will turn up in the search results.

I first found my way here by looking up information about Oddworld.

Manco is a bot.

That makes sense. Same way I came here, actually. Someone posted sketch refs of various Oddworld species a while back, and I found them when I first started drawing OW.

If it's old threads, it's almost definitely search engines. That's what they do.

Well I think we have a spike in lurkers right now due to the ARG. Just look at the number of members who joined recently just to help solve the puzzles.

I used to lurk quite a lot on Halo forums when they had the "I love bees" ARG going on.

But yeah, we do have a ton of bots.
