What determines that you're spotlighted for your birthday on the frontpage?

You should, there are no restrictions. Maybe you set a wrong birthday date or timezone?

Depends if you're known enough probably, I say that because I lurk so much and most of the time I'm not even here. Not everyone gets a birthday thread.

Shade, check your user settings. you might have your date of birth privacy setting set to 'hide age and date of birth' or something, which i think would mean your username wouldn't appear in Today's Birthdays at all.

That's kind of the point... I don't have any thoughts to share.

You have your privay setting set to 'Show only age'. That's why you're not showing up in the birthdays.

AFAIK, any member with open settings and at least one post will appear in that list.

How do I change that?

Go to this page and select the other option in the Privacy dropdown box.
