Cross-Platform Multiplayer?

So this is a neat little thing which I think is long overdue. It's weird seeing this come from Microsoft, I'd have thought Valve to be the ones to initiate it.

Hopefully the others are on board with it, it would bring a lot more life to multiplayer gaming as a whole.

This would be great, seriously. Took long enough.

I would hate to be part of the team trying to marry all those different networking systems together.

Well the technology's there, it's just a case of the rest of them agreeing to it.
