Oddworld inspired my latest track that got BBC airplay :D
Hey guys,
just stopped by to throw this down here: https://soundcloud.com/phantom-comma...hantom-command It's a track I wrote that was entirely inspired by playing Oddworld as a kid and revolves around the frustrations and eventual reward of playing through such a classic, challenging title. It got played the other day on one of the BBC Radio shows which was nice, so I thought I'd put it here in case anyone fancied a listen, since it was inspired by this universe :) It doesn't sound Oddworldian whatsoever, but it more encapsulates how I found it as the player, and how Abe (or any video game hero) may find it as the often ill-fated protagonist! Hope you enjoy gang. Oz |
Listened to the whole thing. Then listened to your other stuff. That shit is good man, I wish I could come up with stuff like that.

Nice try but this should definitely be in Non-Oddworld Art and Literature ;)
Sounds good though. Sometimes the edits and cuts in the vocal track broke the line a bit for me, but the singer has style. |
@Mud Master - thanks a whole lot, man! Hopefully with each new track it gets better and better :) Working on an EP :p
@Phylum - ahhh, sorry! If a mod sees this then do please move it. That's my bad D: Thanks for the advice, smoother cuts coming next time! (or simply less). And the singer is me :D haha so cheers pal! Oz |
So not only can you do a kickass Mudokon impression, make some pretty entertaining videos but you can also play, sing and write lyrics just as well?

Hey this is pretty awesome. You've got a really good voice.

But in an ideal world I'd do vocals in the biggest block possible. |
@Oddey - what a nice comment haha. Thanks dude, I'm glad you've liked the various things I've done. You've always been supportive of it. The Oz stuff was fun but it took so much time for such a very tiny audience. Great learning experience though.
@Alf - cheers for that mate, I'm always unsure on my voice so when people such as yourself say it's good it really boosts my confidence with it :) @Phylum - well I'm currently learning the art (and the science!) of mixing and such and it's much more complex than I used to believe. It does indeed work best to use as few a takes as possible. I limit myself to 3 and then the chorus is it's own seperate entity which changes now and then, but in this song is C&Pd as a starting point. Those types of pre-Chorus to chorus transition edits are intentional obviously. Cuts between verse/pre chorus lines are pretty minimal but if you noticed 'em then they shall be even less the next time! Thanks for the feedback man. |
