XBOX DOOMED!!!
Xbox Officially Doomed
The annual Quakecon reveals news that has the gaming community sitting up, taking notice, and making sure the ammo is full. id Software CEO John Carmack finally confirmed that Doom III is headed for Xbox. At the annual Quakcon, he announced that Doom is officially in development for Microsoft's console, like many had previously believed. Carmack stated that the game would not be able to run on Sony's machine without graphical shortcomings. Doom III for Xbox will be essentially the same as its PC counterpart, with some changes in level design, to help facilitate load times and create smoother gameplay. The new Doom Engine being created for the game has many enhancements over previous counterparts. Lighting, for example, will be real time and reflective. In related news, there was also a hint that Quake IV may come to Xbox as well sometime. The latest installment of the hit franchise will utilize the Doom III engine. Since the engine is in development for Xbox, it would only be natural for other games using it to head towards Xbox. This is exciting news for FPS fans. id has consistently put out good multi-player games. With the Xbox broadband gaming network coming, gamers who have shunned consoles in favor of PC multi-player mayhem could now find themselves jumping ship. XBOX just gets better and better. |
Hahaha! Catchy title that! I was wondering for a while why you would be saying that the Xbox was doomed, as we all know how much you love the Xbox! :)
The Doom series has previously only been a PC based game series I think... so it looks like they are looking to expand their market with this release. Abe Babe... P.S. you asked in a post a while back where all your posts went to... you seem to have changed login names from previously... as I think you used to be under Steel Shark 100... this may have been what you were using when you were in the US (you're in Europe now right?). |
Yeah, Remedy's working on Q4 - and after the job they did on Max Payne it should be something interesting, or at least as interesting as the Quake franchise allows...
But Doom III on the Xbox? The biggest selling point of Doom games has always been their modding capabilities. Without the ability to whack in mods and have regular updates, the PC version will squash it in no time. |
i liked doom for a while but then it got boring.

God! Steel you X-BOX Lover! I thought you had some good news that X-BOX isn't going to be released or something. Why do you have to do this to me!? Getting my hopes up that Munch will come back to the PS2!!!
|
why would you want munch to come to ps2? even if you think its better since you have one, you would be very disappointed with the results. the graphics would look like crap compared to the xbox.
