New Oddysee pre-production art (beautiful)
So OWI just tweeted these (I presume) never before seen pre-production art pieces of Rupture Farms' surroundings from Oddysee. They look really Munch-esque, sort of fusing the native with the industrial. They look really humble to me, if that makes any sense at all.

Oh wow they're awesome. Interesting to see what the surrounding areas are meant to look like.
|
Wow...that's cool
Looks so unlike anything we've seen of Oddworld before though! |
:
These look really great. It makes sense that they would look so desolate and dead, but it’s nice to see the impact the factory had on its immediate surroundings. It would have been nice to include that in the game somehow. |
These look amazing. I wonder if the tube-like structure in the first picture is connected to the wells you use in Oddysee to travel to Paramonia and Scrabania.
|
And I wonder if that thing in the sky is the "DOA" unused flying thing from the demo.
|
:
Edit: A quick Google and I just found this page: https://tcrf.net/Proto:Oddworld:_Abe's_Oddysee Although I knew Rupture Farms was meant to be in a third-world style country on Oddworld, I always imagined it being located within a bustling Blade Runner like city because of conjoining buildings, at least for a fair distance. How have I never seen this stuff before?! I live for this shit. |

Awesome landscapes for sure. I like how desolate they are. Really adds to the atmosphere of RuptureFarms.
And those unused assets are really cool to see, I can't believe I've never seen those before. |
I love environmental art.

Amazing art, thanks for sharing. :)
I agree with Nate the flying vehicle in those pics definately looks like a Blimp. Futhermore those pictures also look like they are originating from the time/project as the following ones: http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...17/category/52 http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...19/category/52 The fact we see a Blimp in there makes me think those pictures were done after MO and the "Oddysee" referred to here is actually the Oddworld Movie. Also they look like Raymond Swanland, and he wasn't present during the Abe's oddysee game pre-production. http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...p?/category/20 |

These are by Raymond Swanland for the Abe's Oddysee film. That's Molluck's personal blimp.
The DOA is a flying drone; those spinning things at the bottom are gun barrels. |
Thank you, Wil. By the way, can you show us some new pictures of Squeek ?
|
Oh yeah sure, here are all the pictures of Squeek. They're all attached. Pretty cool, right?

Edit: never mind, it worked in Edge. Edit 2: it didn't pls help |
Vlam, don't you realise Wil works for OWI and that you don't want him to hang around here?
Anyway: I knew it was from the movie! :D Thanks for confirming. Also those Squeek pictures blow my mind! |
I remember secretoddworldstuff.com well.
Yay for Wil being here though. |
:
Also, I like this sound effect of Slig saying "Ewok" |
I dunno. I prefer the second one.
|
Ugh, looking at those designs it’s so obvious how much Lorne is trying to pander to the lowest common denominator, what a hack.
|
Wow. First Oddworld game to feature nudity. Who'd have thought it.
|
How about Munch though
|
AO had naked birds/bats/dogs/bees etc.
|
But none of them had an ass like Munch's.
|
Oh hey Molluck was naked in AO at the end after he got struck by Magical Lightning™.
|
The pantless sligs in AE were naked. Unless you think of eyewear as of an actual clothing
|
I'm allowing Wil to stay.
Can he tell us more about oddworld's movie script ? |
