Glukkon ...Statue(?)

Hey guys,

So I made an attempt at sculpting a glukkon. I used Super Sculpey Firm and baked it yesterday.

Not the most "accurate" (needs a cigar and some sanding), but I thought it was pretty decent for my first sculpt ever. I'll update OP with more pics.

I may try to figure out how to make a mold of him so I can try out different painting techniques...don't want to ruin the only one :fuzmad:

If I'm any good at molding/painting I may sell some/give them away in the future!

Better than my play-doh glukkon. I mixed all the colours up and it went a pooey brown colour.

Nepsotic 04-01-2015 10:44 AM

Rookie mistake

Job McYossie 04-01-2015 12:42 PM

Holy cow the texture is amazing.

EVP_Glukkon 04-01-2015 04:22 PM

I only have one question:
Can I make my payment via paypal? :D

jr1203 04-01-2015 04:43 PM

@Job: Thanks, homie :3

@EVP: Lol, that's down the road!
And my shitty phone doesn't do it justice, either.

@EVP: Lol, that's down the road!

Fantastic, so let's get the ball rolling.

I prefer to paint the figures myself, so just leave them bare like that. I'm prepared to offer $30 USD for each figure at this point, negotiable. Shipping costs will need to be discussed.

If you're interested please PM me when the line is ready for production. If a pre-order option will be possible, I will be happy to make a paypal transaction for it.

I await your response.

Nepsotic 04-01-2015 11:28 PM

He awaits it eagerly.

Holy Sock 04-02-2015 04:05 AM

You could make some improvements on proportions but this is an impressive first effort.

Crashpunk 04-02-2015 04:56 AM

That's very impressive! Keep up the good work. :)

JayDee 04-02-2015 06:41 AM

Hey! This stature really is pretty pretty great! I'm sure you're right about the camera not doing the statue justice, but Holy Sock seems to be correct about proportions, the face seems to jut out from the cranium a bit too far, and the glukkon's body seems abit small in terms of height. If you haven't already then I suggest looking at the Concept Art available on TOGG, I can't begin to describe how great a tool that has been whilst I was designing some of my own characters.

But proportions and (hopefully constructive) criticism aside, this really is a great first attempt and much better than I could do, I can only see yourself getting better at this! I'd certainly be willing to buy one should the quality improve. Or maybe even commission you for a custom Mudokon! Keep up the good work.

jr1203 04-02-2015 06:56 AM

Wow thanks J!
100% agree the bottom half of the body could be longer. The problem with the jutting is...I sculpted the head first, then baked it. What I should have done was do the head AND the neck so they wouldn't have to be glued. This guy took me a couple weeks on and off and I'm definitely going to try some more characters once I get my clay shipment in.

TOGG will be visited (:

EVP_Glukkon 04-10-2015 10:05 PM

Did the shipment arrive yet?

jr1203 04-13-2015 07:42 AM

Yessssir!

I'm currently blocking out an Abe. A figure with actual arms and legs is waaay more difficult compared to a Glukkon. I'll post some pics when I get closer to something that actually resembles a Mudokon lol.

Bullet Magnet 04-18-2015 05:28 AM

The proportions don't have to be perfect. They can be stylised. They may have to be, given the physical limitations of the medium.

jr1203 04-18-2015 08:58 AM

Here's an update pic!

Shitty lighting to set the mood!

Keep in mind, this is ZERO detailing*

Also, I can't edit my first post/thread starter for some reason...anyone know how to?

you should definetly sell these

p.s. maybe less bulge on the sides of the eyes??

jr1203 04-18-2015 07:50 PM

Haha his head was kinda slouched down, too. Weird angle, but I'll grab some more pics tomorrow.

Hulaabeo 04-26-2015 03:36 PM

Pretty slick stuff, reminds me of those old german statues. You know, the ones where OWI had to issue a cease and desist?

Mmmk?

Anyway, sorry for the lack of updates. I haven't touched this guy in weeks. Still not satified with his skull shape so I'll probably re-do some things soon.

Hello,

I wanted to ask what happened wit this project as I remain interested in a Glukkon.

Alf Shall Rise 02-29-2016 01:52 AM

These are pretty damn good.

*Hmmm, never recieved an email on this thread bump for some reason*

The simple answer EVP....nothing sadly (on Glukkon or Abe). I began blocking out a stormtrooper helmet shortly after and am now working on a ray gun from the COD zombie series.

I do have some sculpey on hand and want to attempt a 'nude' glukkon. You know, get the details and proportions right this time (Just mainly want to sculpt that flat bum lol). And I will begin soon since I saw the link someone had posted with the amazing portfollio of in-game models!

Many thanks!

Those are really wonderful works.
Could you, please, sculpt a Scrab like a Greek god, with all the protruding muscle and grace?
