Abe's Exoddus remake and a Brand New Oddworld Game are on the Table!?

In this article Lorne Lanning has stated that if New 'n Tasty sells 250,000 copies there will be an Abe's Exoddus remake and if it sells 500,000 copies a brand new Oddworld game will be put into development

Those numbers mean nothing to us as long as we don't know the actual sale numbers as for that moment.

PS: this article is about one year old.

I know. That doesn't mean that it wont happen, I mean that's a quote from Lorde Lanning himself.

Must. Not. Post. Sarcastic. Comment.

Damn.

A Exoddus Remake in the same style would be fucking epic... But that game is MUCH bigger and gameplay is more complex than in Oddysee, so it will be much more expensive than New N Tasty...

Not necessarily. They have quite a bit of framework from New n Tasty; an engine, 3D models/animations, SFX etc. That's bound to shorten the development time.

That’s exactly how the original AO took three years to develop while AE only took one.

Yeah. Assets can go a long way. I wonder if this experience with porting to multiple platforms (or planning anyway) will help exxodus get to multiplatform quicker than NnT.

Well, Lorne often speaks before he thinks. Let's hope NNT is successful enough to warrant a sequel and go from there

I know, but I doubt that principle will fully translate to New N Tasty, since the technology used this time around is completely different.

As I said, gameplay is more complex in Exoddus, there are much more complex situations, there are more mechanics involved that have to co-operate and at the same time, that have to work well in a realtime 3D environment. It will be a hard nut to crack, to bring all that to real time 3d, and still stay faithful to the original, as far as level of challenge is concerned.

I also hope that they listened to a lot of feedback concerning the art style and make the environments more dark and gritty and make Abe look less goofy and cartoony in the way he's animated. The whole place has to feel more intimidating. The workers there are SLAVES, they can't just casually complain about work and make sarcastic remarks while sligs are around. And I hope until then they figured out a way to implement shadow zones properly, since Exoddus has A LOT of them.
