New Oddworld mobile port is coming.
So in this tweet developer of SW mobile says that they are already working at another Oddworld port.I'm guessing that it'll be Munch's Oddysee HD.What are your thoughts?

Glad to see they're announcing more new platforms for Munch HD while the PC version has been seemingly abandoned leaving countless people who purchased the game, myself included, unable to play.
|
This is getting a little ridiculous. The relatively small mobile market is getting a port of Munch HD while the much larger PC audience has been waiting for ages for the Munch port to at least be made playable. And oh my god, didn't this happen less than a month ago?
So no plans to port it to PC, but they are porting it to mobile... Get your act together JAW. Seriously. |
You're all a pack of idiots.
They're different teams from different companies working on different projects. A team that successfully ported SW to mobile isn't going to turn around and do the MO PC upgrade. |
Surely if they have a team working on a mobile version they could be paying a different team to be working on the PC version instead though?
I get that I'm looking at this in a very simplistic way, but as it stands OW have an incredibly faulty product that they continue to sell. It just outright doesn't work for lots of people. |

From OWI's further replies it just sounds like, for the time being, they have no intention of working on Munch HD because they're focusing on NnT and supporting Stranger Mobile and Munch Vita. If they do have any plans in the future I doubt they'll tell anyone until they're actually working on the port.
Anyway, Stewart Gilray said, in April, that he planned to commit resources to Munch HD PC when NnT was wrapped up. Although that was before he stopped working on Oddworld projects, and probably before they realised the ports were going to take a lot longer, so who knows if that's still the vague goal of the future. |

Who knew. Now, I'm sure there are grim economic realities to face, and I'd certainly rather they cancelled MOHDPC than go bankrupt, but still. They maintained for months that Munch HD would be ported to PC some time after they finished Stranger,* and now they've decided they're not going to bother, and that sucks. I don't have a bottomless bucket of goodwill, here. NnTPC better be flawless. *I know because I decided not to play MO until they'd patched it... so I didn't have to play it twice. Looks like I'll be waiting a while. |
I think you've missed a few memos over the last 2 years, Meech.
I'm still gonna hold Stewart to his word from a Eurogamer article last year: :
|
Exactly - it's not the first time they've tried to move the goalposts.
|
As much as I'd like to see MOHD come out for PC, I'm glad they're spending all efforts on New 'N' Tasty to be honest.
It would be kinda dumb if they didn't. :) |

Obviously New 'n' Tasty holds to future to Oddworld so it became the priority in 2013 (Munch HD PS3 only came out in December 2012). After it's finished I hope they make a stab at it and Stranger HD Wii U, too. EDIT: They have said, multiple times on Twitter, that they'd only turn their attention to their older properties once New 'n' Tasty was wrapped up. |
