If it respawned you in the same room it would effectively give you 9 heart containers, which would be really lame. The Ankh is probably a better item, but if you get a chance to pick up Dead Cat free then there's never a time that you wouldn't. If it's a devil room trade then it's always a bit tough, but if I have some good soul heart generation items I'll almost always take it. Sometimes you can even backtrack through a level with the demon beggar or something and buff yourself a bit.

Also Dead Cat is much more common than The Ankh, given that it's in the devil room pool.

Two words: Dark Bum. I never got him when I played the original BoI but I make a point of trying to get him on every run. Dark Bum+Tammy's head (with suitable tear synergy) is absolutely broken.

Is there any advantage to using Eve? I find her incredibly tedious and unfun to use but I don't want to miss anything. Azazel is an absolute blast though.

You can have Whore of Babylon active perpetually if you keep Eve at 1 red heart. Soul hearts and shadow hearts don't count, so you want to use items that reduce heart canisters and make devil deals, and then just rely on things like Dark Bum to keep you alive. If you get a good run, you can get ridiculously powerful, because iirc the Whore effect is applied on top of your damage stat - ie if you have max damage you'll still deal twice as much.

Dark bum is op.
Ive never played eve, or lazarus. I should just for the ending, theres probably a trophy for that.
I usually play cain or azazel.
I have such good luck with cain. beat moms heart for the first time with him.

I need to play this game more frequently, Ill try to soon. Ill fall beind otherwise. I need to do the challenge that gives me the scythe tears. I want those, they look beastly.

Cain's Luck Foot is amazing, because you can just eat all of the pills without worrying about anything. Judas is also really powerful if you like making devil deals, if he's anywhere near as powerful as in the original game. I like that they've made him so much harder to unlock now.

Have you guys had any luck with Eden yet? My only run with her so far saw me roll 1 in every stat, when apparently it's supposed to be random?

Also Dark Bum isn't really that great for soul heart generation. He can be powerful if you're lucky, but with battery drops the Book of Revelations is usually better and gives additional bonuses (unless you hate devil rooms and the cube of meat/bandages).

Krampus' Head is fantastic.

As a resident of a country where bum means ass, I feel I'm going to enjoy this thread.

Luck foot doesnt do that anymore, it increases the chance youll gte something good from a pill, but it doesnt guarantee positive effects anymore.

Ive beat moms heart with eden. (eden is ambiguous btw, no gender specified) The stats are random, but I doubt u can get a run where u start with max luck or max health. Its probably capped at 3-4 hearts and I doubt ur stats can go higher than 3, but some of the items u can start with is pretty neat.


Ad yes, Krampus's head is fantastic. Love it.

Guarantee or not, if you're playing Cain you basically want to take every pill you get on the first few floors. That's his biggest strength, so you might as well use it.

And yeah, obviously the base stats on Eden cap somewhere, but getting all 1s is a bit lame. I suicided on the Duke of Flies because it was taking forever, and he's the lowest HP boss by far.

yeah. Just like other characters, if I get a bad roll with eden, ill just restart. Eden token or not.

I had a good run with Eden that very rapidly turned into a bad run but I'm not entirely sure why. I started out with the Bible (I assume you always do with an Eden Roll) and high damage+ high tears and two hearts.
I Got Dark Bum, the Friend that spits out blue flies, the wub wub worm, fire tears, the pentagram and Leo, which seems to give you stomping ability if you take damage, all within the first 3 or 4 floors.
I was doing very well until Utero II, where my Dark Bum decided to start spitting out normal red hearts instead of soul hearts. I'm pretty sure either a trinket or a permanent upgrade is to blame but I can't remember which one.

Needless to say I died pretty quick being unable to heal. That was the only remotely good Eden run I've had, the rest have given me shit stats and terrible pick ups.

You dont start with the bible with Eden, everything is random. Even their hairstyle. And leo gives u HP up + Speed down + thundre thighs (right?) If its thunder thigh then u get stomping regardless, u dont need to take damage.

Yeah, you can get some fuckers of combinations in The Womb/Utero. I always try to carry We Need to Go Deeper and/or The Emperor to make sure I don't have to fuck around with the fodder too much. I can take mom with 2 or 3 hearts pretty comfortably now, but the rooms to get there are the real killers.

You know ur a trophy whore when u sacrifice a run just to get a trophy :p

Grabbed the bible as azazel so I could ge the trophy for killing mom with the bible. Wasnt all bad, unlocked the halo as well, and I got the dark boy trophy. So 2 trophies for 1 run, not bad when the games been out for a month and no ones got the platinum yet :P

I was on twitch today watching some guy play isaac. He was in the chest and got Ipecac + Soy milk + Pyromaniac. Dude, if u ever have the chance to get that combination, do it. You are literally invincible. Ur attacks are really weak, but theres so many explosions on screen ur pyro (if its not pyro, then its the other one. Its the one that heals u with ur bombs) is outhealing the damage ur taking. It was insane to watch.

Just beat Mega Satan in a great Guppy run with The Wafer, 3 pretty flys and Trinity Shield. What a great boss fight. All you unlock is Ending 16 so there's not a lot of worth fighting him beyond the fun of it. Might attempt it on Hard soon but, for now, I've still got to beat The Lamb.

You beat mega satan before you beat the lamb?

Aye, but I thought Mega Satan would have been a more exciting encounter. I just beat the Lamb this morning and it definitely was.

I havnt played in like a month. Ill get back to it at some point, but I have a lot im still playing and a few games backed up.

Had my first god run yesterday. Got dark bum first room, and pyromaniac second room. Shortly after I got 99 bombs and gimpy, so Tonnes of soul heart and almost infinite bombs that heal me.

Got a whole lotta other great stuff, like whore of babylon (though i never got low enough to use it), goat head and the mark. First time I killed satan.

The fight was ridiculous. I had 3 pretty flies, so I just stood next to him and 1/10 shots would actually hit me cuz the flies would block the rest. and the last phase with the hooves, that was fun. Me running around placing bombs to heal myself, but as soon as Id place them I have to move cuz he stomps where u are, sending my bombs pinballing across the stage.

Actually Satan's stomps count as explosions so they heal you too.

Really? But the text for pyromaniac states 'your bombs heal you'. I assumed it is only ur explosions.

The hooves are never a problem for me. I just have trouble hitting them sometimes... The leeches are what kill me everytime.

Goddamn it, I need a PS4. Between this, New N Tasty, Street Fighter V and Bloodborne, it's becoming increasingly hard to resist.

Loved the steam version of the original but I kinda need a game pad for something like this.

Just plug in a 360 pad or a dualshock 4 into ur PC.

I'd thought I'll bump this thread since I've recently been obsessed with the game. I've been playing the shit out of the original (since I don't own Rebirth yet) and I'm loving it.

What really interests me about it, is the complete randomness of every run. As of now. I've not even beaten Mom yet due to me sucking at dodging enemies and projectiles. Something to work on I guess.

Oh and I've been watching Vinny's from Vinesauce Isaac streams and they're so good. I'd recommend people checking them out

Im the same. Im so bad. Ill take like 4 hearts of damage on Basement 1 for no reason other than im stupid...
Azazel makes me feel good though.

I watch northernlion play it on Youtube and Cobaltstreak on twitch. Cobalt just went something crazy like 150 wins in a row.

I only ever did like 40 Rebirth runs and I got 7 mom kills. You guys suck.

Still never unlocked Judas though. I'll probably come back and do that some time, and then my average will go up once I get my head around "It Lives!".

My next moms heart kill will unlock it lives.
I still play casually from time to time. Oddworlds my BnB at the moment.

I've played it obsessively over Christmas and currently trying to finish up The Lost on Hard. I only have the Boss Rush left to do but it's frustratingly difficult.

I'm so fucking bad at this game.

Even when I get some good luck and great items. I just loose so many hearts. I hate rooms where it's filled with enemies that fire projectiles and have rocks everywhere blocking my path. I know I'm new and everything, and it takes practice, But it's just annoying to get so far and just die...

And yet. I'm coming back to it over and over again.

Yup. My worst rooms are the ones with the headless jumping guys that lock onto ur position, similar to monstros jump. Fuck them. Ill lose like 3 whole hearts to 4 of those guys... Q-Q
If u take 3 devil room deals in a single run youll unlock Azazel and then u can feel like your doing well cuz Azazels OP. But u have to actually be good to get him, cuz 3 devil room deals in 1 run isnt common unless u can get goats head or dont take damage ever.
