That's neat. I really wish I had the money to support her. She's a wonderful artist. :)
Is this that song they shoved into the trailer?
Yes. And it's also plays in the credits.
Ew. No.
It's a good song. Just not in any relation to Oddworld.
It's a good song excluding all instruments and leaving some parts of vocal.
It's an okay song and so stylistically incongruous with the Oddworld games that it's actually kind of hilarious.
Ive heard the first 2 seconds of this song a hundred times. I really should listen to it at some point...
Somehow I think this song fits the oddworld feel a thousand times better than Get Freaky or Use Yer Imagination.
Those were awful, too.
But they were never used in the games. |
Eww why did you guys have to remind me that this is a thing?
Romance is a theme that isn't closely associated with Oddworld. Friendship, consumerism, respecting nature... there are really a lot of songs that could fit into the series. For example Pink Floyd's Money, The Beatles' Taxman or Jessie J's Price Tag. Now I'm not saying those SHOULD be the soundtrack but they would still have a connection to the theme.
It's cool that they're incorporating fan contributions and all, I just wish they'd have chosen a more appropriate song.
They may as well have just slammed in some of my drum and bass or dubstep.
E: The song isn't that bad, though. |

Re-record it, JAW! The band's members are still alive.
Please. No.
You love it, Chris. Don't lie.

With the knees so we take on my back Down on a mission, on a mission in the track That that ain't no competition Best they can see and I will listen 'Cause we was too just like that And now it's time for the ABE ATTACK ♫ |
Ya know, I've always thought this was about Abe's love for his bretheren, his journey to the Monsaic lines and the temples, and him coming back for the rest of the mudokons.
If you'd actually read into the lyrics, there's a good chance that you'll realize JAW and OWI didn't just randomly pick a fucking song to represent New 'n Tasty. |
Lyrical relevance is worthless, especially for a game like Oddworld. If the musical shoe doesn't fit then no string of coherent words can save it.
I really would like "Get Freaky" to be included in the next game, or at least a trailer, for nostalgia's sake.
Actually, no, it'd just be funny. |
:
With that being said I didn't think 'Born to Love You' was an inherently bad song. It was so-so in the sense that it's almost pop-chart worthy. It's also great that a fan got to do the music, must have meant everything to her. I haven't played NnT yet so I don't know if it features actually in-game but if it's only in the credits then I don't have any qualms. It's not like it'll ruin the immersion of names scrolling across my screen. |

Oh no, how dare they break atmosphere after the conclusion of the game. Such a travesty, those monsters.
Well, when you consider that the originals managed to maintain, even enhance that atmosphere with the credits, blending concept art with ambient noise to create an unsettling sense of unknowable scale that keeps you feeling weird for a couple of minutes after you close the game... yeah, NnT looks considerably worse in comparison.
I genuinely burst out laughing at the end of Crash's LP. It's just so very, very jarring. |
I didnt have a problem with it in the credits. But Ive played through the game over a hundred times, so my POV is very different to u guys.

You must need balls of steel and skin thicker than leather to remake the work that made you famous.
