You know you can buy all 4 Oddworld games on steam and play them on todays computers?

I would like to play Oddworld at native 640x480 on a CRT again one day.

Also Pilot wins this game.

My grandad used to have a 98' computer in his conservatory until the late 2000's. I'd still sneak in there at about the age of 12 and download the Oddysee demo from the OWI website and play it on there. Baffled by the length-ways game speak controls.

Anyone know why all sounds are from the demo on here compared to final? I also already saved 50 mudokons .

One of my friends lives out in the sticks in Sweden, and The Binding of Isaac looked great on his bulbous CRT.

I'll always miss the old times with my CRT. I loved how it made that weird cracking noise when I turned it on/off. Also I loved the slow turning on and screen appearing after leaving the PC in screensaver mode for a few minutes. Too many memories ;_;

MeechMunchie 08-21-2014 11:07 AM

Oh man, I remember that noise.

DZT!

who used to put the back of your hand against the curved glass crt display and feel the static on your hands' tiny hairs?! I DID :D

I need to get a hold of a CRT comp monitor again.

You are all a bunch of hipsters!

CTRs actually have their place these days, and sell for a fraction of the price of still-inferior 120hz low input latency LCDs. The only drawbacks are the size, and eye cancer.

I never had problems with the Abe games on even Windows 7. Munch also works fine, but that's probably to be expected. I haven't tried Stranger, I'm not really a fan of that one.

That being said, I much prefer playing games on consoles anyway. Or at least hooking up a controller. Sadly, I don't have any of my PS1 games anymore except for one survivor - Final Fantasy 7. (This is despite me having had *two* copies of FF8; I no longer have either of those and no idea what happened to them. xD)

Is... Is that a joke?

namidaV 08-22-2014 12:32 AM

How so?

Job McYossie 08-22-2014 12:51 AM

MO on pc had some of the worst compatibility issues. I had to use my advance graphics card setting to get it to not crash every 2 minutes, and that is not an exaggeration.

namidaV 08-22-2014 12:52 AM

Huh, the only thing I had a bit of difficulty with was working out the controller setup on the title screen. :/

Holy Sock 08-22-2014 02:23 AM

I had no issues with MO but I couldn't get SW to work until the HD update was released.

SW was always fine for me - but MO would crash at the first cave. That got fixed after a while though.
