Abe's Exoddus' 301st Mudokon

We couldn't save him, guys... :fuzemb:

I'm sorry, buddy... Maybe next time. :fuzsad:

Varrok 07-31-2014 07:02 AM

You're horrible at this. Each and every one of us at OWF (except Job) has saved him.

Job McYossie 07-31-2014 07:04 AM

We're terrible people... We all have survivors guilt from this, why are you triggering us all? (except for Varrok apparently)

Tell me your secrets. I heard if you hold the "wait" command through the whole cutscene, Abe will realize his blindness and open a bird portal for him... :fuzwink:

Jordan 07-31-2014 08:24 AM

There's a special cheat code you have to input during the cutscene to save him.

my dad works for owi mate he taught me this

JennyGenesis 07-31-2014 08:34 AM

The AE remake will get a 0/10 from me if we can't save him.

You have to press the B button on your gamepad while the cutscene

HOMINIX 07-31-2014 08:42 AM

Ah. Skipping the cutscene is the only way to save him. It's like it never happened.

Crashpunk 07-31-2014 08:43 AM

Fun Fact: There's a Bird Portal at the bottom of that pit...

Too bad Abe didn't chant...

Havoc 07-31-2014 08:50 AM

In the AE remake there had better be a Mudokon corpse at the bottom of that shaft when you get there.

No. You have to press B and then the alternative cutscene will appear. It's like QTE.

STM 07-31-2014 09:33 AM

I thought it was L1 R1 A, it was like chanting the portal open in the cut scene and then skipping it at the same time. I don't remember it's been a while since I played AE on the PS1.

Varrok 07-31-2014 09:35 AM

L1 + R1 + A works too, but why bother trying the combination if simply "B" works.

Mac Sirloin 07-31-2014 09:36 AM

For the record, you the player never actually see this Mudokon die, although Abe's cringing and statement of 'Help me rescue the rest of them' seems to indicate he died, it can be assumed he is ultimately saved since letting one mud die is sort of inappropriate for the story.

HOMINIX 07-31-2014 09:36 AM

It would actually be pretty funny if JAW remade Exoddus with something like that actually in there. I wonder how long it would take anyone to find out on their own...

Haha that's awful. He's just lying there with a broken leg waiting for Abe to save him, while Abe just assumes he's dead and moves on. It's gonna be a long, long wait, buddy.

He definitely could not see that coming

You have no idea how impossibly I am laughing at this right now. It's so dark yet so hilarious.

JennyGenesis 07-31-2014 10:32 AM

Yes those blind fuckers can mine bones with pick axes and not accidentally get the axe stuck in their foot?

Oh please!

Never Sleeper 08-01-2014 12:21 AM

I think this would be the first time where a quicktime event could be useful in a game. "Press X to save him!" :D

JennyGenesis 08-01-2014 12:24 AM

And exactly how would Abe save him? Just shout stop before he steps off the edge?

Never Sleeper 08-01-2014 12:55 AM

Maybe or he throughs a rock to stop him. Well I think none of this will actually happen. He will die just for the sake of entertainment. :/

But there's barely any fall damage now, so he'll be fine.

If only Abe knew a word that made Mudokons wait.

Crashpunk 08-01-2014 01:53 AM

What's the deal with pretty much removing fall damage anyway? I can understand it being on the easier difficulties, but even on hard?

DAMMIT THEY WERE PLANNING IT ALL ALONG FOR THAT

Manco 08-01-2014 03:22 AM

guess you could say we all fell for it

Varrok 08-01-2014 03:30 AM

I still can't put my pieces back together after this news

JennyGenesis 08-01-2014 03:42 AM

So whats abe goona say? "Oops. I forgot he was blind, good job we dont die from high drops anymore he will be fine."

Havoc 08-01-2014 05:48 AM

Just have him waiting down there. And instead of Abe landing in a well when he jumps down, he can faceplant the floor next to the guy and proceed to say hello.

HOMINIX 08-01-2014 06:16 AM

You know whatg else I'm bummed that they changed is that they removed/didnt replace the little jingle thay played when you died in AO and AE. My brother and I have been jokingly repeating that jingle whenever something bad happens ever since. Unfortunately, no New n Tasty version... *cue jingle*

Zenikai 08-01-2014 07:09 AM

I have that little death jingle as my PC start-up sound and error sounds. OxxOu x3
