Slig Shapes
 

Growing up, and probably still now, did anyone actually see Sligs as they are, with the gun separated from the body?
Or are you like me, and see them as a giant oval, where the gun meets the body now and just sort of forms an oval shape?

Umm, yes, they had a gun and usually guns are not attached to someones body.

I know where he is coming from, when they are walking you can clearly see the gun is separate, but yeah it does look like one whole piece when stood still.

I don't really know what you mean. Like you thought his face-fingers were attached to/holding the end of the rifle?

I've always seen them as they really are. But I also owned and read the shit out of the manual, which had clear shots of all the characters. So I guess it's possible I would've seen them like that if I hadn't seen them in the manual too.

Definitely know where you're coming from. As far as my 7 year old self is concerned, that gun is a joined, organic part of their body.

I thought the pants were an organic part until Exoddus. But even when I first saw crawling sligs, as a kids, I called them baby sligs as that what I thought they were.

I've always had many theories when I was a kid. I was a pretty weird kid. I was also reeeally scared of abe in the menu. I thought that he could jump out of that round window and be in my room. That's why I was pretty afraid when I launched AO, went to kitchen for something to drink, and I had to return to my room.. I always imagined empty window and Abe somewhere in my room. Sorry, that's off-topic.

Hmm.. Sligs.. they always made me wonder. Especially when I saw 2 versions of them. The one with 1 stripe as an eye (visor), and the one from AE, with normal eyes. I still don't get it.

Also, yesterday I was going through my old drawings, and I decided I am gonna show the worst slig ones, because yeah as you already know, I was a fucked up kid. Damn, I even thought of Badass armored slig for AO, then I thought of the dumbest name ever "Oddworld 3: Abe's World - Return and Run".. that reminds me that guy who said "Abe's Oddworld Oddysee: Something Nice And Tasty".

But it really fascinated me when I found out that those slig legs are not slig legs. I thought it's natural part of slig until AE.

Oddworld 3? How old is that drawing!?

Ironically, I think it was in 2001 when Munch's Oddysee came out. I was 4 years old back then. And I had no idea there are more than 2 Oddworld titles back then. But when I found out... Ohh boy I wanted XBOX sooooo much, JUST for that game.

Ohhh man I wish I still had my old oddworld drawings. I used to draw level set-ups with ledges and mines etc.

I even had a fan comic about what happened with Mullock, and Abe blowing up Fee Co. called Oddworld: Abe's Oddacity... isn't that cute?

Those drawings remind me so much of the drawings I used to do when I was little.

I filled little notepads with "screenshots" and level designs with very poorly drawn Mudokons and Sligs. I'll have to fish them out and post them up.

I dug these up (and like 40 more) accidentaly when I was going through my old closet full of papers. Does anyone here know "MDK"? Pretty old game. When I was a kid, I wanted 2 things. Next Oddworld game, and MDK 3. I drew 21 comics, 6 pages each and called it "MDK 3", because clearly, no-one was gonna make MDK 3 so I had to make my own. Oh boy I was bursting creativity and "art". I am gonna send 1 page here later.

And if New n Tasty WILL BE a bit modable on PC, I will fulfill my dreams and make my paper stuff real. Just as my signage down here says \/ , hah.

Oh, man I remember MDK. I forgot all about that game. I remember thinking that parachute thing you had was the coolest thing ever.

Sadly, I think most of my childhood drawings, including those early Oddworld drawings were lost in the move from my old house... :fuzsad:

That "Abe's Oddacity" comic I drew a little later, after I moved. So I'll dig through all my old art stuff and try and find some pages of that

Although the thread is categorized in Non-Oddworld Art and Literature, most of the people were posting their old Oddworld art. I'm sure a lot of us have some old childhood drawings of Abe and company!

MDK was, like, the best

Okay guys, I realise this is getting out of topic limits already, but I promised I will show some stuff. Keep in mind it's childhood stuff.

So yeah, MDK 3 was nowhere to be seen and I really wanted a sequel. So I made tons of comics. After those 21 comics with EPIC FINALE, I made few SPECIALs etc.. I lived in my own world.. ODD WORLD... Hue.. sorry.

Don't know how 90's this is, but I used to visit my local library to print out cheat codes for my games, 10p a sheet for black & white in them days it was

Oh yeah, I still have a few floppy discs with cheat code TXTs that I downloaded from the internet at my friend's house. Damn, I want those times back.

Goona take a lot of text to fill up one of them.

Then again, I remember how amazing it was that the PS2 memory card was 8MB, a WHOLE 8MB!

I remember I was hanging out at my friend's house and his dad was telling us about this new thing called Google.

At the time it didn't seem like that revolutionary of an idea.

Bloody hell. It's amazing how many of you did that. I used to do the same thing all the time. I created like a whole game with those terrible drawings.

They are long gone now though.

That would have been back at how amazed I was at the quick shutdown time of Windows 98! I remember waiting forever to shut down Windows 95.

I used to draw Abe as a Big Face, far after the events of AO and AE. He basically looked like the Big Face from AO/AE, but with a slightly different mask, and a feather headdress.

I'd love to see Abe grow wiser and more shamanistic-ally gifted throughout the Quintology. Perhaps Abe the Shepherd will guide the Quintology's main characters to the conclusion of the story, as he does with Munch. I'd very much like that.

And then you'll find out that Big Face is the wise version of Abe from the future. *brainfart*

You know how Lorne was talking about how all the Quintology heroes would have moons of their own like Abe and Munch, and how they would all align in the final game?

I bet that's what sends him back to the past, so that he can resurrect Abe, so he can guide the heroes to earn their moons, so that they can send him back... to.. guide..the heroes...
