Wow, they would actually mean something? Having a Native Mudokon alphabet would be amazing!

why did the mudokons become bald?

Because in the original memory space meant all the Mudokons had to look the same. As you see in Munch the more spiritual Mudokons get, and live in the natural environment, the longer hair they get.

I also imagine story wise it's also because they're worker class and they get their heads shaven

Except for Abe though, Abe's an exception. Employee of the year exception maybe?

I think it's because Abe is like the Mudokon Messiah.

Some unseen force prevents them from even thinking to try to shave Abe, and they never question it ever and then all hell breaks loose and they still don't make the connection

There's two contradictions in the lore by the way.

Firstly there's apparently this thing where Mudokons get more and longer feathers the happier and healthier they are.

Then there's skin color where a Mudokons mood is represented by. Abe is blueish instead of green because, according to lore, he's depressed, right?

So skin says he's depressed, but feathers say he's happy. Which is it?

It is both. And neither.

The feathers are more down to spirtual fulfilment and attunement with nature than an actual emotion. Most of the natives are pretty grim about the fate of their species, but they still get up at 4AM to mumble at fireflies.

So there's not really any contradiction in Abe being both abnormally empathetic and chronically depressed. In fact, his heightened awareness of the plight of Mudos is probably responsible for his maudlin demeanour.

Because he's the most spiritual. i mean he can possess Sligs from the get go. he's like the Mudokon Messiah.

Do i dare reveal the real reason, hmmmmm.. decisions decisions.

Is it going to turn out that the feathers are actually telepathic antennae, and the Glukkons are trying to keep the Muds divided by shaving them, thereby limiting their communication?

I still wanna know what that mystery meat on the meathooks is. The large roundish things. They're too big to be either a Scrab or a Paramite or an Elum. So what is it? Leftover Meeches?

I think it's just a generic carcass - which then gets stripped apart and becomes the more skeletal carcass that gets grinded.

It wouldn't be an Oddworld game without unidentifiable remains.

Especially now that we know the carcasses we see in the opening movie are from scrabs apparently.

Mudos is a massive continent. Clearly is it home to fewer species than can be found in an under-average petting zoo.

It is a universal scientific fact that the variety and number of contents is inversely proportional to the size of it's container. That's why our potentially infinite universe contains approximately six stars.

I like that we don't know what that "mystery meat" is. It leaves room for OWI to come up with new creatures and say that they were killed in RuptureFarms as well.

What if Abe's feathers give him the ability to chant.. Just like the mudokons in the Monsaic Lines who also have feathers..? That would explain why the slaves could never chant and possess sligs.

I imagine Abe is the only one who can actually possess things with his chanting power, although the Big Face in AO/AE might also be capable of doing so, as he has other remarkable chanting abilities, like resurrection, teleportation and some unspecified powers relating to Shyrkullism, as he has the power/authority to grant Abe the spirit scars (although the Weirdos do give him a third spirit scar)

I'd really like to see Mudokons' abilities gone into in more depth. It seems like most native/freed/enlightened Muds are capable of combining their chanting power to create a large amount of potentially dangerous energy (like in the good ending in AO) and sometimes just to open locked doors or grow plants (like in Munch's Oddysee). It seems like Mudokons have the potential for great power if they hone their chanting powers, and obviously the naturally talented (like Abe) are potentially capable of even more, given that they also work hard to hone their abilities.

You've inspired me to look into examples of Mudokon symbols and compare them with symbols seen in New n Tasty:

Honestly, kudos JAW for the attention to detail in recreating those messages so faithfully.

Should we make a new thread just dedicated to written Mudokon language? People seem to be having fun speculating about a broad variety of other things :fuzcool:
