What do you like better. The factory scenes or temple scenes.
I prefer the bits in the factory. They seem more deadly and unnerving. I still think the temple stuff is really fast paced though. WHat do you all think?
|
In Oddysee? Probably the Stockyards/Free Fire Zones. In Exoddus it may be the Slig Barracks or the FeeCo Depot.
|
Aesthetically speaking, my favourite area in AO is Paramonia, and my favourite area in Æ is FeeCo. Depot.
|
Abe's Oddysee for me is Scrabania (no shit..) And Abe's Exoddus is the Slig Barracks :)
|
I always preferred the Industrial settings.
|
AO: Stockyard return
AE: Slig Barracks or Bonewerks |
I personally can't decide which I like more on its own but I definitely love the contrast between them as they alternate within each game.
|
I'm always a fan of industrial environments so the factory levels are most fun to me. Rupture Farms just looks amazing in NnT.
|
For Oddysee, Monsaic Lines were my favorite.
Exoddus is tougher to decide for, but I think Fee Co Depot is my favorite! I think Fee Co is my favorite for the series for that matter. I'm so intrigued in the vast, sun-lit, industrial backgrounds that it's almost depressing that I don't get to explore more of the facility. |
I agree about FeeCo Depot, it does feel very grand. However, despite my love for the industrial environments I have to say Soulstorm Brewery is probably my least favourite area from both games. It looks really quite ugly, like it was the last thing they got to and ran out of ideas. If JAW do AE HD, I really wouldn't mind if the place had a massive overhaul.
|
Really? SoulStorm Brewery was my favorite industrial area in Abe's Exoddus (and possibly the entire series). The music fits well too.

I loved the backgrounds showing thousands of stacked barrels.
Honsetly the most uninspired area of Exoddus was the Bonewerkz I felt. The huge piles of grounded bone was nice but otherwise it looked so generic and uninteresting. |
:
Alcar... |
Yeah, that was certainly a nice departure.
|
:
But like you guys said, the enormous bone dust piles in the background are still the highlight of Bonewerkz to me. |
To be honest I think the dilapidated look fits Bonewerkz perfectly, as well as complementing the backgrounds very well.
|
The dilapidated brick look is a fine look. But the areas just seemed so uninteresting. All the other industrial areas have interesting machinery and backgrounds. You never really get a sense of the Bonewerkz as a place. And I thought some of the actual levels were a bit underwhelming, also.

Then you reach Annex 7... |
I always sorta found Mudanchee and Mudomo rather uninspiring. The scrabanian and paramonian temples seemed so grand, so the AE counterparts felt lack luster to me. Also they felt extremely easy.
|
The Vaults felt like the Temples, just more... dead. Which I suppose is appropriate enough.
Hopefully JAW will breathe a bit of spirit into them in TzF. :
|
Breathe some spirit in the form of Mudzombies? Eh?? ;)
Like Meech kind of said the Vaults felt like dead, ancient places. Whilst the natural environments were grand and linked Abe to his spiritual ancestry the native areas in AE seemed incredibly hostile and grim in comparison. Although I don't think this is a bad thing. It's a way to distinguish them from the Monsaic/Paramonia/Scrabania areas since they're essentially the exact same thing. |
Purple didn't dominate the areas the same way those other areas were dominated by their colors, though.
Also, I'll continue to insist that SoulStorm is the better title :fuzwink: |
SoulStorm Brewery and Rupture Farms (the return) are actually rather alike in their use of color scheme alteration.
I guess it's important for the final stages of the game to have a bit more variety in them. |
Without having the imagery right in front of me, Soulstorm Brewery is a lot of Purples and Oranges.
I vaguely remember blue backgrounds at one point reminiscent of Zulag 3 but I only remembered that because of Auriel's post. |
I think it was pretty much exclusively varying shades of blue and purple. o.o
|
Purple, and purplish-brown i.e. mauve.
|

|
:
The very first area is purple, though. Maybe that's what's throwing you :p |

http://www.mobygames.com/images/shot...m-brewerys.jpg http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/...Exodus-04.jpeg So much purplemauve and orange and suddenly blue These are the kinds of scenes I typically remember when I think of the Brewery and even that blue looks like it's leaning on the purple side to me Most of the environments in the games have a rainbow of colours they utilize but there always at least 1-2 that stand out above the rest. I vaguely remember Mudanchee being primarily mauves too. |
