Hey, I've got an idea.
It's 2014. The Art of Oddworld Inhabitants - The First 10 Years is from 1994 to 2004. Will there be "The Second 10 Years"?
|
So, basically you want a blank sketch book?
|
I want to see the fucking NnT Logo in HD, printed. And signed.
|
It comes with a free CD of that song everyone's decided they hate.
|
But I liked the song. It's pretty good.
|
Probably better to wait until there's been a few more original IPs in the series.
|
I don't think the majority of stuff is hand drawn anymore in this era. It will all be done digitally, and then enhanced and enhanced until the final product is born. There wouldn't be anything TOO fascinating in a new book. However, a behind the scenes documentary of how they rebuilt the game would be amazing.

To be honest I've never read the Art book. I'm doing it now. I learned that Abe's first incarnations had penis and fisheyes. Also, Abe's butt. Admit you've always wanted to see it, you bunch of perverted freaks.
Also, :

I think they should give it 5 more years and then release a "First 25 Years" book.

:
I feel almost enlightened but not quite. |
Blame Joe. He 4chans.
|
Perhaps if it's well desired.
I think a book with all the concept art and early in-game images of New N Tasty would be cool. And perhaps stories, interviews of how New N Tasty came to be. Oh and a page dedicated to OWF's nitpicking. |
I’d like to see more games come to fruition first – a few pages revisiting AO through SW wouldn’t be unappreciated (especially if it’s new art we haven’t seen; it could be tied in to NnT and the HD re-releases), but I want to see the concept art behind new stories first and foremost.
Maybe after Hand of Odd, Fangus, Stranger 2 and SligStorm, whenever they get made. |
I'd love to see a second "Art of" book, but apart from artwork of Stranger's Wrath and the additional research they did for NnT I'm not sure what they would put in it.
It would be more realistic to wait until they start working on Fangus in order to have some content. |
You're asking for a book featuring artwork from a time period in which the company has barely been active. I agree with Xavier. Must wait maybe another 10 years, so that (hopefully) they'll have released a few completely new games that's birthed lots of nice new production matierial.
|
I'm fine with my art book I have now, even if I have to wear gloves to look through it. I dare not smudge it's hallowed pages.
I want to see more games, specifically Hand of Odd. |
I think they have a ton of work from the second ten years, but it's almost entirely spoiler for unreleased properties. And they do like to hang onto their IPs in case they get made, in some distant/parallel future.
|
Considering the design work that went into the first 4 games I'm sure they could fill a couple of books with artwork, experiments, doodles, visualisations and progress shots that have never seen the light of day outside OWI. :p
|
It would be nice to see a volume 2 of The First Ten Years. I'm sure there's enough content that didn't make the first art book to fill at least another one, but that's obviously not happening any time soon.
