What is this? "OPPLE'S Great Adventures in ODDWORLD"

http://www.amazon.com/OPPLES-Adventu...words=oddworld

So I did some amazon browsing once a long while ago hoping to find what I later learned was non-existent Oddworld merchandise, and I found this. I had just remembered this and thought "That'd be interesting to put into bits an pieces." then I thought: "Well it is about Oddworld..." So that's why it's here. I don't see any evidence of this being licensed at all, nor do I think that OWI would give their blessing to this. I mean, just look at that cover.

I'm really hoping someone around here can explain how this came to be.

I thought it would just be coincidental that the author named it Oddworld until you read the first bit of Chapter 2.

Also the cover was quite clearly made in two seconds in mspaint, it's not just taking the piss out of it, it obviously is a cheap mspaint job.

I've always been cautious of buying books of Amazon, I've seen some interesting stuff, check this link out for this "book"

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Volvo-Ailsa-...ds=volvo+ailsa

They are not selling it no more, but one time you were able to see a preview of this "book" and I found it odd that basically it seemed to be copy and pasted straight from Wikipedia, then I read the front cover and it actually says "High quality content by Wikipedia articles" THEY ARE TRYING TO SELL YOU A WIKIPEDIA PAGE!

Hmmm.... Opples in Oddworld :3

Dont says me anything...

Pirfsich 04-06-2014 04:24 PM

Go ahead, send a Screenshot of chapter 2 to OWI.

JennyGenesis 04-06-2014 04:53 PM

It's a couple of clicks away!

Some people are so lazy.

RoryF 04-06-2014 05:22 PM

It's not really lazy, there isn't any intention to send this anyway. It's an obscure children's book that probably cost the guy more to put on Kindle than he's made off people buying it.

Xavier 04-07-2014 01:11 AM

I already saw that one but I always tought it was a coincidence or some light rip off.

I'm glad OddMan360 pointed to chapter 2, now no doubt can be allowed anymore. Why would anyone do something like that?

Nate 04-07-2014 02:32 AM

It's FanFiction. Some people don't realise that their original stories set in someone else's world still breaches copyright.

OANST 04-07-2014 07:25 AM

Does this mean that I can start selling my Stranger meets Master Chief fiction on Amazon?

On that shit.

RoryF 04-07-2014 08:09 AM

As long as it's $1.28.

OANST 04-07-2014 09:19 AM

It'll be on sale for $1.27.

RoryF 04-07-2014 09:29 AM

What a bargain!

Pirfsich 04-07-2014 11:33 AM

I'd buy* that.

*pirate

It's a love story. I wept while writing it.

Job McYossie 04-07-2014 02:34 PM

Just the idea has me tearing up! I'll purchase copies for everyone on the forums.

Auriel 04-07-2014 04:09 PM

Good god is that really a children's book about an anthropomorphic version of a fruit that was mentioned in Stranger's Wrath a couple times and if so did someone really think this was a good idea?
unless it's supposed to be some sort a real life adaptation of an in universe picture book for young mudokons and whatnot to amuse themselves with in between shredding up scrab carcasses and each other in factory meat grinders in which case it still isn't a good idea

Job McYossie 04-07-2014 06:11 PM

I think I might just read it to see how terrible it is.

You know, you can read the first few chapter on the amazon site. And it's even worse than that.
