Lorne Lanning to kickstart a non Oddworld game?

Sounds intriguing, I just hope it's not pound dog :p

Stranger HD for PS4? Now that I would love that!

It really bugs me that I can't play the HD games on my PS4, as for the mobile version, despite owning a phone that could play it, I doubt I'll buy it, I'm really not a fan of phone games and to be honest Stranger isn't something I can see that would work on a phone.

Then again I was very surprised at how well the android port of Carmageddon turned out, not only did it look good but it played great and it had me hooked to the point that I actually finished the game! Interesting with Carmageddon they created the mobile versions using their unfinished port of the Gizmondo version...

If it's a non oddworld project, please please PLEASE let it be an HD rebuild of Crash Bandicoot! Along with Oddworld, Crash was very significant in my childhood!

Why would Lorne do that? Why bring back an IP he has absolutely zero connection with and not start a new IP on his own?

There should be license problems aswell, right? I think Crash Bandicoot is owned by Sony, so they MAY pass this over to OWI, but I don't think that is likely to happen...

Well, my childhood has (almost) been re-maked.
Crash and Spyro are still missing, but Ratchet & Clank (I count the film, too!), Oddworld and Tomb Raider are back!

Lorne Lanning is an artist, seemingly with many ideas of his own. I doubt he'd take somebody else's work and reproduce it. I expect, if this report is accurate, that he has his very own design he wishes to work on. Best of luck to him :)

I have to laugh at the people in the article’s comments being angry about buying Stranger HD again on PS4. It’s not about selling the game again, it’s about getting it on as many platforms as possible. Lorne’s talked before about his dislike for games being stuck on one platform, so this makes sense in that regard.

The talk about it being a new SKU* makes me wonder if Stranger PS4 is an early test of the work JAW is doing on bringing the Stranger engine up to date and making it multiplatform.

* I think he meant SDK here, since I can’t for the life of me figure out what SKU means in software terms.

Living in a dream.

Crash and Spyro belong to Activision, Not Sony. And even if they did belong to Sony, Lorne will never reboot those games as he's expressed no interest in them.

And to be honest. There are better companies that are suited for making sort of games. Insomniac for example.

Good to know we're finally getting a Pound Dog game.

Yes, and I can’t wrap my head around how that relates to Stranger HD.

SKU here would just mean a different version. It's the wrong term to use, but it makes sense in context.

A different version, sold through a different system. It might be the same game, but to an accountant it's a different item.

I don't get why people are complaining, it's not like they are being forced to buy the game, for me, it's a great thing for people like me who have never had the opportunity to play Stranger HD. It's just the same game being released for a different platform, it's not like what capcom does, release a street fighter game and then release a "Super" version, they did the same thing with Marvel VS Capcom 3. Apart from better graphics I can't see anything that people who have already played Stranger HD are missing out on.
