Video

Watched it the whole way through, what i picked up on was that when abe was shot by a slig, he survived and a bird flew out of him. This kind of justifies the paramonia picture released not too long ago.

I think that how it was in the original games worked better, where you'd see the bullet scatter on the floor towards Abe before he died, it works well with the fact that the Sligs are said to have poor eyesight.

I love that whenever Lorne is talking Stew looks bored as fuck.

Crashpunk 03-19-2014 04:10 PM

Ah yes. The Just Add Water office is such a great place to be. :)

Pretty cool interview. No doubt that guy will promote Oddworld a lot.

Lorne also looked a bit bored when Stew was talking. But it makes sense. They're not learning anything new from one another. So it only becomes interesting when you're telling it to the uninitiated.

Lorne mentioned now that with scrolling, the sligs have a sight range and a shot range I think in the interview. It makes sense if Abe runs a few meters ahead and the sligs miss shots at a larger distance. Atleast I think/hope this is how it will work.

Pretty good interview though.

It's probably because Stuart is answering questions that has been answered a million times, no doubt he was interested in Caddicarus being there otherwise he wouldn't have invited him, I'm sure that he was probably more interested in seeing what caddy actually thought of the game it'self.

I may be wrong, but is he the first person not on the dev team to play the game?

As for the new control scheme, I did notice during a bit of gameplay footage one of the LED screens mentioned about pressing R3, I'm fine for them to implement a new controls scheme and I'm sure it will be fun to learn, but I think it is vital they put in the classic control scheme to. Especially if I'm going for that trophy to speedrun the game.

Can anyone give a precis of this video?

Oziah 03-20-2014 04:19 AM

- Start talking about the games Lorne and Stewart grew up with, which ones inspired Oddworld etc.

- The importance of a good story, emotional connection in video games.

- Lorne explains how they got into the digital market and how the HD remakes came about.

- Discuss possibilities for future installments and the backlog of stories and info they have on Oddworld.

- Reasons why there have been no female characters so far.

- Mention how secret areas, puzzles etc. have been tweaked. Lorne makes a comment here that I find suspicious...as though he is hinting that there is a major secret. Check out 27:07 to see what I mean.

- New features such as All'ya commented on, how this will make the game easier and faster to progress through...hints there are features to counter that.

- Talk about analogue control scheme.

- Explain the lack of a solid release date.

That's basically everything!

Stuart

You literally quoted 'Stew' and still got his name wrong. :p

JennyGenesis 03-20-2014 05:25 AM

I must love dealing out the same punishment I receive, people always spell my surname and forename wrong :(

I currently don't have the time to watch the video so thank you very much for this. :)

@JennyGenesis, i imagine by pressing R3 you would toggle sneak, which wouldnt be a big deal, unless it was to toggle running. :P

JennyGenesis 03-20-2014 08:06 AM

But holding R2 to sneak is firmly embedded in my head!

MeechMunchie 03-20-2014 07:24 PM

Better get some pliers.

Havoc 03-23-2014 07:14 AM

I only vaguely remember playing Oddworld on the Playstation, so picking it up on the PS3 is going to be weird for me. I'll be interested to see if there is gonna be control remapping available on the console and PC.

Very nice interview, thank you.

It's Styooert, no idea why people keep messing it up.

I told myself not to get hyped about this but I am, unfortunately. Bring on whenever 'soon' is.

I'd also love to be able to swap to the legacy controls so I can jump right into it, as it were, without having to unlearn all the muscle memory I've been reinforcing since I was about 7.
