3D Rupture Farms a WIP

Ive been working on this for a couple years now on and off, I was going to wait until it was fully complete to show anyone but i couldnt wait any longer. So heres a teaser for you guys.

There is a lot more to the scene that ive completed, and many of the details are hidden by the low resolution and the shadows before I get the lighting right. More to come soon, my final goal is to complete the entire matte painting in 3D with other parts of the factory off to the right that you couldnt see before

AvengingGibbons 10-16-2013 05:48 AM

Very nice :)

Varrok 10-16-2013 11:18 AM

Better than the one from New n Tasty trailer, because IT'S ACTUALLY IN 3D!
well not exactly, it's a 2D render of the 3D model, but you get the idea...i hope

Steamer_KING 10-20-2013 05:28 PM

Looking good...I guess. If it was bigger, I would make a wallpaper for it...

Oddey 10-20-2013 07:40 PM

Hard to say how detailed it is at this distance, but it looks good all the same.

DarkHoodness 10-20-2013 11:05 PM

What little there is of this is very good and detailed - But if anything, it makes me a little disappointed that JAW apparently plan to simply reuse the existing RF matte painting and enhance it, instead of re-making it in 3D and perhaps flying through it for a cool FMV intro sequence, even if the effort wouldn't be worth it for them.

Hopefully this'll make up for that, though - Yay for fans like you. :) Keep up the good work!

What others have said already. Very good, great that fans are still doing stuff.

WolfensteinOdess 10-22-2013 01:19 AM

Interesting :) Keep it up ;)

zimfromBM 10-22-2013 02:45 AM

Its actually quite detailed. Right now im only going to put out renders from the matte painting perspective but once Ive finished more of it I can give renders from different angles :) Keep in mind these next pictures are old, outdated and incomplete. Its just takes so god damn long to make new renders on my old ass computer. Ill try to get some more current ones done soon.

I'm stunned at just how much it looks like it. Well done.

DarkHoodness 10-22-2013 06:23 AM

Same here, especially when you look at the first image and imagine it being part of those earlier WIP pictures... Incredible.

Crashpunk 10-22-2013 09:22 AM

Holy crap that is stunning!

Slog Bait 10-22-2013 02:04 PM

I'm always in awe when I see people work on projects of this scale at such a high quality

Mainly because I don't have nearly enough patience to go through with one myself

Havoc 10-22-2013 03:45 PM

Holy damn that looks amazing!

Hulaabeo 10-23-2013 12:31 PM

Holy piss, after taking a better look at this, I think it's safe to safe I'm in love with your work. ._.

AlexFili 10-24-2013 03:01 AM

Amazing, definitely need to start doing some more 3D Modelling myself. It's been quite a while since I tinkered with 3DS Max

WolfensteinOdess 10-27-2013 01:13 AM

What a great work !

Im nearly finished, Ive now finalised almost all the buildings except the ones in the far background off to the left. hopefully should be done by Christmas. Unless I run out of steam and give it a few months break like ive done a bunch of times already.

Varrok 11-17-2013 08:22 PM

It looks great, don't give up!

Slog Bait 11-17-2013 09:42 PM

Sooooooo cooooooool

WolfensteinOdess 11-18-2013 08:56 AM

You make indoor rupturefarm too ???

DarkHoodness 11-18-2013 09:37 AM

Leave that to JAW, this is still more than incredible enough as it is.

Don't listen - absolutely finish this its awesome :D! Your model will likely be far more detailed and hi res than anything JAW will do since they have real time 3D on current generation console constraints.

Is the plan just to do the outdoors? Or are you doing some indoor scenes too?

DarkHoodness 11-18-2013 12:04 PM

Lemme try again: I meant that the interior will be done by JAW for N'n'T - The scope of this project (only doing the exterior) is epic as it is for a fan thing and I'd also like to see it finished. :)

Varrok 11-18-2013 02:00 PM

They would probably put a JPG instead of background anyway

No I dont plan to do any interiors, I might make one very detailed section with an open door right in the middle of the factory that I can zoom in on and it will look really cool. another thing I am planning to do is make a large section off to the right that you previously couldnt see. Its going to be the stockyards that abe escapes through.

Progress! its slow work. Im now working on the background buildings to the left and the stockyard which abe escapes through to the right. Everything is still a WIP and the lighting needs much work. Im getting there slowly though.

AvengingGibbons 12-02-2013 05:15 AM

Did you create the background? Or use some ready-done artwork? What about the smoke?

The whole thing is fantastic, anyway. Unless I knew it wasn't official art, I would think it was!

Varrok 12-02-2013 05:51 AM

It's great! JAW should feel ashamed

DarkHoodness 12-02-2013 09:50 AM

It's still a shame this isn't part of the remake... But for this, it's incredible beyond words. Keep up the amazing work!
