There are lots of percent signs where there shouldn't be.

Is this just me?

Looks like some formatting issue with the timestamps.

It wasn't like this when i checked a few hours ago.

I think oddworldforums may be having its own mini armageddon

Same for me:

I’m seeing the same thing. Seems to be affecting the static DD-MM-YY dates. Might be an encoding or formatting error or something?

Apparently, it doesn't happen to everybody, mine is fine.
EDIT: I use Chrome

Phylum 09-27-2013 03:25 AM

Did some more poking.

I can only see it in Firefox. Chrome and Safari are fine.

Manco 09-27-2013 03:39 AM

I did a quick side-by-side comparison of (from left to right) Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari.

In the first image only Chrome is logged in, and it’s the only one showing the error. Then I logged in on the other browsers, and the error appeared for all of them (second image).

I only tested in Industrial, not sure if this affects other skins.

Does Phylum use Apple OS? Because Manco and AG do. Maybe it has to do something with it?

Phylum 09-27-2013 04:03 AM

Tested on Mac and Windows, several browsers and themes. It only appears to be an issue when logged in.

No, this an issue with the forum.

You can tell because the extra characters are being outputted in the page source, like so:

The way software like vBulletin works is that when a web browser requests a page, the server software generates the page content based on the server, the database, the software settings and the theme. It outputs that generated content as a static HTML page, which is what shows up in your browser.

The fact the extra characters are visible in the page source means the forum is generating the page in such a way that creates these characters. It’s not a browser or OS rendering issue.

My guess is that since the forum clock is also not working properly, there’s probably some issue with the date and time settings somewhere in the server, database or vB itself. If you’re not seeing the bug, then you probably have some specific setting turned on in your User CP that makes you exempt.

Just checked the vBulletin options in case the percent signs were entered into the date format settings, but they're not (percent signs are common as variable indicators). It's something internal to vBulletin that I have no access to.

I doubt it's related to the clock issue. My best guess is that's to do with the clock on the server itself being wrong.

I'm seeing the percentage signs myself, on Win7 Firefox. Peter did say that he was going to take a look at the forum themes. A drunken Friday night sounds like just the time he'd do it. I'll message him and see what he says.

Slog Bait 09-27-2013 09:24 AM

I haven't seen any percentage signs. I use Vista and alternate between FF and Chrome.

Clock is still wonky for me, though

DarkHoodness 09-27-2013 09:56 AM

In case it somehow helps (which I doubt, but whatever), I use Chrome and Win 7 and don't have this issue. I also tested OWF in the Steam in-game browser, which doesn't have the issue either.

I don't know what you%guys are talking about...I can't%see any!

so when's the mutiny?

Alcar 09-27-2013 03:24 PM

This was due to my attempt at debugging the time discrepencies. This would have only affected members who have their language set to English (UK) as it implements the common sense date format.

Fixed, any how.

Alcar...

Slog Bait 09-27-2013 03:41 PM

Oh, that would explain why I didn't see it.

I'm too American for this shit.

Nepsotic 09-28-2013 05:31 AM

I can see it too.
