Grand Theft Auto 5
Ok, so I don't have the game but thought I'd go ahead and make the thread anyway. Hope that's alright, but if not, feel free to remove this thread and/or shoot me.
I probably won't get it anytime soon, unless my dad thinks otherwise. Though, if and when I do get it, I'm now certain I'll have enough space on my Ps3. For those that already have the game, post on which console you have it on please. Maybe even post your X-box name or PSN ID if you want. If we all wanted to maybe play together or something, that'd be effin' cool. This thread is free to talk anything GTAV related, but please remember to use spoiler tags, as not everyone has the game already. D: |
I pre-ordered it last week, kinda last minute, and picked it up today. Played a few hours just now and it's old-skool massive fun. I haven't even been introduced to all the characters yet and I've already been busy for hours just doing other stuff.
Franklin and his friend kinda annoy me though. I'm hearing the word 'nigga' and 'motherfucker' about 30 times a minute. It was fun at first but it gets obnoxious really fast. |
I thought about pre-ordering it, but my dad held it off. You have it for X-box or Playstation 3? I read on the whole "play disc" problem with the X-box 360 version, but I guess everything has been resolved now. Hopefully no one will have anymore problems..
And I bet! There are tons of little details here and there that'll keep you busy. And yeah, that's understandable - the language. |
:
It looks really good. A couple of my mates waited in Game at midnight to buy it. Sadly I don't have any means to play it on at the moment, so I'm going to wait for it to be *hopefully* ported over to PC. |
I'll pick it up after test week at school so early Oct. probably, it looks great.
|
@Crashpunk: Yeah, quite a bit of people want it for PC. I don't really see how it would be a bad thing to be ported to the PC - more money, right? Hopefully it will be available for it someday soon.
@Dynamithix: I'm hoping Oct is when I can get it as well. With some people having issues with it right now(X-box and digital downloads), I'm glad I didn't get it early. Hopefully both those problems will be fixed soon as well. Don't want anyone missing out on this awesome looking game, that's for sure! |

My brother waited for the midnight release in the pissing down rain. Apparently he got there at 11 and got the game at 2. Jesus.
I don't have it but I gave my brother £20, Dragon's Dogma and Silent Hill: Downpour so hopefully he can trade them in and get me the game. He has £5 on a Game card as well so here's hoping it's enough. |
Jesus, it's only a game. Talk about being overhyped. Just as with Diablo 3, which was apparently not as good as it was marketed... I wouldn't wait hours on the rain for that.
|
Yes. It is only a game. I don't see your point.
|
Being one of the most anticipated games of the year, who wouldn't stand in the pouring rain just to get it? But I know I wouldn't; I'm willing to wait another week or two, as stupid as it sounds.
Avoiding all sorts of videos and sites for spoilers. All kinds of idiots out there wanting to ruin it for everyone.. Only sticking to the videos titled "Free-roam" just to torture myself, haha. For those that have it; have you encountered any glitches or mess ups at all during gameplay? Any problems installing for your X-box/Ps3 at all? |
GTA isn't the sort of game I play for the story much, so I could care less if it gets spoiled. The storyline isn't exactly very deep anyway. Seems very predictable to me so far.
The only gameplay mess up I encountered is that the GTA 5 servers keep being down, which cause the BAWSAQ stockmarket to be unavailable as well as your phone's camera. And since you need that camera in certain missions... |
The GTA5 story is actually really good, especially when compared to the others.
|
:
Long gone are the days of traditional cameras that used film (see San Andreas)... Why is it necessary to have server access for taking pictures though? Do your pictures automatically get uploaded to cloud or something? |
:
And yeah, pictures get saved to the cloud. |
:
At the same time, I dread the moment when some dude gets up from his console in a month or two and goes "Imma get into stock exchange, this isn't that complicated." |
The graphics are nice as shit and the map is huge. I pre-ordered it on Amazon and paid for release day delivery. Good game, apparently you can get eaten by sharks.
|
|
The lack of impact on the world is about the only thing that I miss in GTA. But if you're playing any GTA game for a deep and meaningful (or even solid) story you're playing the wrong game. Plain and simple.

Oh, you mean that game that was fucking amazing?
|
I'm playing GTA V and I'm loving it. The missions are fun and entertaining and the story is actually very well told trough the different missions.
Seriously I haven't seen anything in there yet that I did not like. |
:
What I said in my last post about people wanting less story-centred gameplay in GTA was somewhat generalised. Personally, I loved GTAIV for its story and atmosphere, although the plot got somewhat flat by the end ("Niko, do this, I'm angry!" - "You know my price." pretty much sums up the late missions). |

For all their flaws, I think there's probably more than one reason why corporations delay games.
|
Oh shit, GTA Online is heaps of fun. Anyone playing on Xbox let me know so we can play together.
|
Why can't they just make Ps3/X-box/PC all be able to connect together. Why!? D: I forget at one point how it came up, but I think someone said that most of everyone here plays on X-box? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
And I'm guessing most, (but not all) of the glitches have been patched for Online now. I've been reading on Rockstar's twitter, they've been posting updates and such. Shit, wish I could play with y'all Online. |
Oh what a great idea, just have Microsoft be compatible with their rivals.
|
They are compatible, though.
There's no hard reason cross-platform multiplayer couldn't be done. There might be some hoops to jump through, but in the end all the client has to do is interpret the packets it gets sent from a server. There might be more complications if Xbox Live has some form of control over how servers are hosted, but as long as there's no Top Secret Xbox Verification I can imagine it being completely prohibitive. I'd be interested to know how this is controlled at a Sony/MS level. e: Cross-compatibility would probably mean that you couldn't use the PSN/XBL apis, so that could potentially put devs off too. I can't say much because I don't know how the systems work, but that could become hacky pretty quickly. It's a bigger problem when you have client hosted servers and I don't even know how much PSN and XBL support that. |
