What should have been.
Some intresting info about the PS2 version of Munch's Oddysee

Complements, etc. -Flute ability in game for Munch. -Munch was about to die at some point. -Playable Lulu. -Characters would get bling and jewels if they got rich. Once Oddworld recovers, I'd really like a Munch's Oddysee reimagining. |
Hey, sweet find! Where did you get this? February 2000 is a pretty early Munch interview.
|
It says GamePro at the bottom of the pages. I don't recall ever seeing that magazine.
Great find nevertheless. It make me even more depressed the game never launched on PS2. |
Whoa, this is great! :D A priceless find! :D

Now that's an interesting find - Kind of sums up the pre-release hype MO had back in the day. Ah, memories.

Weren't the majority of the problems that made MO so bad a result of it becoming Xbox exclusive
It might have been significantly better than it ended up had they never done that deal, but it happened so I guess we'll never know |
For the 'what would have been' if it were, the 'what would have been' that happens to have been outlined in the OP, perhaps?
edit: fuck's sake Slog Bait |
The swap to Xbox would have cost them time, but it's still a really ambitious project by today's standards. They would have run into issues anyway. I don't know how much work went into the PS2 game, but I doubt the game described in that article could have been made back then.
I would love to be proven wrong, of course. |
