Any Oddworld related podcasts out there?

Does anybody know of one? I would love to listen to a weekly/monthly Oddworld podcast, and am surprised I haven't been able to locate one on the internet.

It would be a great way for people to talk about Oddworld, keep us informed about upcoming Oddworld stuff, have interviews with the game dvelopers, etc etc.

Please tell me there is one somewhere and I just haven't been able to find it. If not, any podcasters on here should think of starting one. I mean, if Sonic the Hedgehog can have his own podcast(s), why can't Abe, Munch and the gang? :)

Phylum 06-10-2013 11:13 PM

I want to field this before someone else does it rudely, but I'm at a loss.

LawgSkrak 06-11-2013 12:56 AM

Why would people answer rudely? It's a perfectly valid question. Or has this question been asked before thousands of times? lol

Or are people on here just generally obnoxious for no reason? :)

Pretty much, yes.

My response isn't going to be rude, but it is going to be blunt. There just isn't enough information coming out on a regular basis to support anything like a weekly or monthly podcast. Maybe a quarterly one.

MeechMunchie 06-11-2013 02:27 AM

Sonic the Hedgehog can have his own podcast because there have been 14 main Sonic games. There has been a Sonic game released every two years for two decades. At any given moment, there is a Sonic game in development.

There have been 4 main Oddworld games. The last one came out eight years ago. You wouldn't be able to make a monthly ten-minute podcast unless the theme tune was nine minutes long and you talked really slowly.

LawgSkrak 06-11-2013 03:17 AM

Well, you sure could do a monthly one. If you are creative enough.

You've got four games to review, merchandise, tons of people you could interview, tons of abandoned games (or are they) to discuss, the art book to go over, HD remakes, plus other new stuff on the horizon.

I think somebody with enough drive could do it. :) I've seen weekly podcast centered on things that don't have as much stuff out there as Oddworld does. So it can be done. :)

You say there is nothing to talk about, and yet, this forum is full of people talking about stuff. Podcasts don't have to be just news reports.

MeechMunchie 06-11-2013 03:26 AM

After you.

EDIT: Have you actually read any of our discussions? We talk about stuff, not Oddworld.

Jbot123 06-11-2013 03:32 AM

It just isn't podcastable at the time being. Sorry.

We spend most of our time talking about things that aren't Oddworld.

A big part of it is that noone is bothered. Another part of it is an official OWF podcast would at least turn into something about general video games. At most it could quickly deteriorate into swearing and talking about the weather.

And even then the place is pretty dead.

LawgSkrak 06-11-2013 03:49 AM

Uh...okay then.

I guess Oddworld just doesn't have the same kind of fans as other franchises do. Because I see this as highly possible. If I had the right recording and editing equipment I'd do it myself. But it doesn't seem like I'd be able to find a co-host, so I guess I'll adopt the "Why bother" stance like everyone else. :)

You could say that again.

LOL!

At least it's entertaining around here. ;)

The reverse psychology isn't going to work, friend. We wouldn't have anything to talk about on said podcast that hasn't already been said. When Oddworld is a bigger series, then we'll talk. K?

Nate 06-11-2013 04:51 AM

For the record, I would listen to an Oddworld podcast hosted by OANST.

MeechMunchie 06-11-2013 05:49 AM

But critically, not for its Oddworld-related content.

Actually, now I'm tempted to set one up where we all talk complete bollocks about Oddworld.

"Originally, Glukkons were intended to be the protaganists, until Lorne became disillusioned with capitalism after his bank denied him a loan."

"The fifth Oddworld game, Raisin's Oddysee, will be a prequel in which a younger Raisin slaughters thousands of Gabbits via quicktime events."

You should have come eight years ago, this place actually had enthusiastic fans.

But after eight years of waiting and no new content it's hard to still be passionate about the oddworld universe to the point of still discuss new theories and stuff in a podcast.

Based on the same engine as RYSE?

I must spread rep around, MM.

Talking complete bollocks about Oddworld... That's what the oddworld wikia page is for, no?

LawgSkrak 06-11-2013 07:27 AM

Hahaha! :)

You were supposed to talk bollocks, not the true facts about Oddworld!

The forum could do one. It wouldn't be an Oddworld podcast so much as a OWF podcast, so appeal might be limited. I suppose Wil's contribution would be essential at least every now and then, but he's not a PR guy. We wouldn't want him to get into trouble for accidentally saying something he should not have.

MeechMunchie 06-12-2013 10:18 AM

If I wanted to see Oddworld fans talk to each other awkwardly, I'd go on OddChat.

EVERYONE ODDCHAT NOW

STM 06-12-2013 10:52 AM

Doesn't work for me. ='(

MeechMunchie 06-12-2013 11:01 AM

Have you tried clicking on it?

Varrok 06-12-2013 11:43 AM

Could you be more specific?

MeechMunchie 06-12-2013 11:53 AM

Firefox gives me a placeholder saying it's out of date or whatever. I just click on it and it lets me through.

Varrok 06-12-2013 11:59 AM

It works for me. That clicking thing did the trick
