PlayStation 4
At this link theres a LIVE presentation of PS4 by SONY:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidewa...new-york-city/ The gamepad has "Share" button. I have nothing more to add |
|
The Witness looked very good visually, but something about it being a puzzle game put me off. The new controller looked a bit weird and didn't the guy say there's no backwards-compatibility for games? Oh well.
|
The PS4 is not backwards compatible, but GAIKAI is releasing the games on the cloud. This is confusing, but I guess we will be informed throughout this year, since PS4 comes out on Holidays.
|
Wait, so does that mean we have to buy games we already owned for the umpteenth time if we want to play them on the PS4
|
We still don't know. I sure hope not, because that happened in PS3 and SONY got backfired real hard and they showed that tonight.
|
Hopefully not, seeing as PSN purchases can span across multiple consoles.
e: Speedy shit |
:
...wait a minute... |
They said we'll be able to stream our PS3 games, I think. I was hoping for more clarification on that myself.
InFamous: Second Son and Killzone Shadow Fall were amazing but I didn't like anything else I saw. I was hoping for LBP3 and was really disappointed by the PS Move sculpture game they showed. Fuck the PS Move, I don't wanna see that thing anymore. |
The BC stuff is hard to swallow after all the DD stuff purchased this gen, so none of it will work on PS4. Killzone looked like a Killzone, I don't care about pretentious hippie games by pretentious hippies, but the new Infamous looked like the best game out of exclusives. The console is going to be expensive, 8GB of DDR5 isn't cheap. I'm interested to see how it will compare to the Nextbox in both price and power.
|
:
I'd much rather play a game on a console it was meant to be played on anyways, but no backwards compatibility can hurt the console. |
Yeah, I know quite a few people who wanted a PSVita but didn't get one because it didn't have support for PS1 games from launch.
|
So, great hardware, but no interesting games whatsoever.
Way to go Sony. |
SNACK seems GOTY material.
|
Is that a joke post? It has to be, you didn't even get the name right and the only thing shown was some very generic gameplay.
That post can't be real. |
Rest assured, it isn't. It was supposed to be a bad joke, that's all...
|
The presentation was really kinda boring. A pile of games, but not near enough information about the console to actually get excited about.
I'm annoyed by The Witness being PS4 exclusive. I hope it'll end up being exclusive like Braid was 360-exclusive. I'm even more annoyed by the (unconfirmed) rumour that The Last Guardian is going to be on the PS4, as that was one of the games I bought my PS3 for. |
:
Now I guess we have to wait for Microsoft to show us what they're planning and then the next generation of nerds arguing can commence |
It was a "meh" presentation. The only things that got me interested were Destiny and Watch_dogs, and both of them will be multiplatform.
The fact you could play PS4 powered games on your Vita was kinda neat tho, I want the same thing on my nextbox. |
Update to my previous post: Apparently The Witness is going to be 'console-exclusive' to the PS4, but still will appear on PCs and iOS.
|
Sounds to me like the PS4 is just nerfing everything. Got a problem? Ask a friend or let them play for you. Low on health? Have a 'developer status' player gift you a health potion so that you can keep on going. Where's the difficulty going?
|
I didn't watch the presentation so I haven't seen any new games. However I think the controller looks okay, it just lacks innovation. What's that touch pad going to be used for?
|
:
The things that appeal so much to people about the DS, 3DS, Wii, and Wii U are that they allow you to interact with the games in more ways than just pressing a bunch of buttons. With the introduction to a touch pad of some kind, don't you think they would try to implement the use of the touch pad into games? It gives you more than just buttons to work with, and could be used for many simple challenges. It could also double as a mouse. Instead of spinning an analog stick or pressing directional buttons to move the cursor on a screen, you have a touch pad in it's place. While it might not be the best method to control the cursor, it will be a lot more convenient and familiar to many people. In short: who knows? It could really be used for anything. |
:
If everyone remembers the PS2/PS3 switchover, there was a time when games like Call of Duty, Rock Band and FIFA got both next gen and previous gen versions at the same time. This will likely carry on for a few years until everyone's swapped over. Also what does everyone think of the "Playstation Eye"? Any chance Nintendo might follow suit and release some kind of body detection hardware? |

Consoles are not freaking social networks! Why are they concentrating on making consoles "social" more than on the games themselves? IF I WANTED TO BE SOCIAL I WOULDN'T BE PLAYING GAMES |
I was expecting a table flip.
Also Slog Bait, I guess that was pretty dumb of me. Did any games get shown that use it? |
Because people do it. Just because it's not for you or I or anyone in our combined circle of contacts, doesn't mean there isn't massive consumer appeal in it.
