Odd and Creepy Video Game Easter Eggs
I've always been fascinated with the amouts of dark and odd secrets in games, for example the infamous Sonic CD Easter-egg, yet I can never pull myself together research these mysterious secrets that can really bring a dark side to games. Some games may bring back nostalgia, but to think there is something more to it, other than what you remember makes you become interested in these secrets that were setup. So here is a thread that is completely dedicated to researching and debating about how these ominous secrets made there way into games you know and love.

This should probably be in Non-Oddworld Gaming.
Can't really think of any off the top of my head. If I remember one I'll probably return to this thread just to say "Oh yeah I remembered..." |
One level in Jedi Starfighter had actual Easter eggs hidden away. Creepiest thing I ever saw.
|
Black & White used to berate you about various things while you played.
|
The glitches and AI problems in Aliens: Colonial Marines are the scariest and creepiest things I've ever saw in a "major" release game.
|
All though the next video isn't an easter egg, it's still creepy. |
I love Creepy Pasta :)

That guy's delivery is terrible.

In Conker: Live and Reloaded they added random possesed baby doll enemies that weren't in the original N64 version, and it scared the shit out of me walking up to them through a tunnel. Why, Rare? Why?
In Portal 2, you can find the room of an insane man known as ratman. You can hear him screaming, but you don't know where he is. When you leave, the door closes itself behind you. I think it was in Mario Galaxy 2, in ShiverBurn Galaxy, you seem to be in some kind of deep trench. If you look above the trench, you will see three figures watching you. The figures have never been referenced in any mario game. There texture is "HellValleyTree". No matter where you are in the level, they will always be watching you. In the game I think is called Jam Sessions, hold the A6 chord down and you will hear someone whisper what sounds like "Don't Kill Us!" |
It's arguable that the Ratman stuff in Portal is a side-story rather than an Easter Egg.
Indeed, consider this my argument. |
Whatever. It's still an easter egg, and it's creepy.
|
Didn't they make a comic dedicated to the Ratman?
e: found it http://www.thinkwithportals.com/comic/ |
I got that in a book for Christmas.

Milla's story in Psychonauts was pretty freaky.

Why does it have an armadillo shell?

Some questions are best left unanswered.

Banjo's head is mounted on the wall in the tavern in Conker's Bad Fur Day.
EDIT: Not really creepy, but Cooper from Grabbed by the Ghoulies is also puking in the toilets. EDIT EDIT: If you flip around the cover of Ratchet and Clank All 4 One, you get this.http://bulk.destructoid.com/ul/213152-alt1.jpg |
