Oddworld+ Wreck-It-Ralph 2? What do you think could happen?
Oddworld.com has a new poll about Abe being in Wreck-It-Ralph 2,http://www.oddworld.com/2013/02/lets-make-this-happen/.
What do you think some neat Oddworld references could be? I have some: -Ammo Critters/Rats/Birds running around like pests. -Molluck at Bad-Anon meeting. -Mudokon Pops ads -Soulstorm Brew bottles lying around -Abe and Munch walking around in a crowd -"Molluck sucks" graffitti -Wanted posters for Outlaws, Steef Head, Abe and Munch -Sligs, Clakkers, Interns, etc. in the background -Some Munch's Oddysee vendos -Elum tied to a pole in Game Central Station Got any ideas? |
An Oddworld cameo would definitely be pretty cool. I'm indifferent as to what the cameo is, though.
For the love of god, no. This is an absolutely terrible idea.
EDIT: I was talking about Abe in the film. Jbot123's ideas are okay. |
It's very, very likely that Abe being in the film will be no more than a cameo like pretty much every other already existing video game characters in the first.
It should involve slogs in some way.
They're making a sequel already?
it getting a sequel isn't very surprising to me (because just about anyone who's a gamer went to see this.)
but I'm wandering how the sequel will even work?... also I'd make a comment about Abe but the very thought just blows my mind. |
I'm going to see this next week. I'd love an Oddworld reference!
I didn't realise Wreck It Ralph was coming out now? I thought it was entering cinema in November...
Meh. Not bothered about that film at all. If it had a little cameo or reference to Oddworld; obviously it will be cool (for us) but again, I'm not really bothered.
What is Wario is in it?
Wario was number one in the same list.
they'd probably just mention him instead of having a clever appearance for him... (see the movie to get the joke.)
It'd be nice to see, but I'm not about to get my hopes up.
Any ideas on how oddworld would be represented, though? This is a thread for your ideas.
I think it would be best if there was a slig or something, but not Abe outright, or any of the protagonists/antagonists for that matter. Any franchise signed into Wreck-It-Ralph is going to have its immersion destroyed, if it hasn't been already, that's fine for something like Pacman with no real story or Mario where the main characters make as many appearances IRL as they do IG, I wouldn't like to see the immersion of Oddworld broken down, but a little inference could be cool.

And Scrabtrapman hereby expresses what I was feeling but failing to put in to words:

That's what I was thinking. The named Oddworld characters are too well developed to gel right in an out-of-character behind the scenes type situation. Nameless punch-clock villains work much better, especially considering the theme of Wreck-It-Ralph. Though that itself probably depends on the plot of any Ralph sequel, since I imagine the villain-with-issues story gets resolved in the first one.
So sligs would be good, as would slogs (especially if there's loads of them blasting out of a hut, or even being vacuumed into one in preparation for a game). Or if there's a videogame monster zoo, scrabs and paramites would make natural specimens. |
Holy shit Video game monster zoo awesome got a billion ideas for that one holy crap mind blown!
:
and yes I would love see that. |
It would be a sad day if Oddworld ever had the misfortune to have any affiliation with this movie.

I agree, they'd need to be really careful or it'd feel forced. You could have stuff like the Wanted or RF product posters without it being too intrusive though.
Yeah tiny stuff like that would make all of the oddworld fans feel recognised, without the whole"ITS A VIDEO GAME CHARACTER! STARE AT IT!" thing. I honestly felt kinda disappointed in the cameos of Wreck-It-Ralph. There were a lot less than it sounded like there would be, and they were all in the trailers.
Why would Abe and Munch be wanted criminals in Game Central Station?
God, you people must have hated Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Yeah but most of the characters shoe horned into that film fall into the category of being plastered all over the real world.
:
That should be the slogan of the entire Oddworld fan community. |
