Yo, I'm Millennium but I don't care what you call me. I'm the highschool student seeking acceptance on these lovely message boards. I've been eyeing this place for quite some time so I decided to join in on the fun.

A few things appropriate for my introduction:

I'm entering my first year of senior schooling and was wondering if any Australians could give me a heads up on year 11 math C and physics, ie. recommended studies or revision?

I'm a budding computer scientist or something along those lines. I think it would be pretty cool to be a software engineer or some crap, still not too sure. I also find physics and math really interesting.

In regards to Oddworld I'm guessing everyone else has the same story. I played Abe's Oddysee first, then Exoddus, Munch's Oddysee and SW a few years later. I can't say I liked MO or SW as much as the others but hey, it was still fun.

I guess I like anime and manga, but I'm not overly-obsessed. I like Berserk, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Cowboy Beebop. I also often get in the mood for one of those romantic highschool animes, they're great.

Anyway, peace out. If you have any tips regarding math C and physics, let me know please.

Uh oh, he likes anime.
Welcome aboard. Prepare for a thorough ass-chewing.

Millennium 02-01-2013 05:22 PM

Uh oh, he likes ponies.
Not too sure what you mean by ass-chewing but I'll take it as a warm welcome.

Wings of Fire 02-01-2013 05:25 PM

It means we're a very gay board.

Millennium 02-01-2013 05:29 PM

I can only handle 85% gay, will I be okay in this community?

Phylum 02-01-2013 05:31 PM

e: No, you'll need a higher threshold than 85% to be comfortable here.

Hello! If you've been lurking around for a while you probably have a good idea of what we can be like, but just remember not to take anything too personally. For welcome threads in particular you need a good sense of humor.

Computer Science is fantastic. You should definitely consider the NCSS summer camp if you're interested in that kind of thing. My friend went last year and he said it was fantastic.

I did year 11 Specialist Maths last year, which I believe is the South Australian equivalent of Math C. There are probably a few differences, but if you have any really pressing questions you can consider sending them to me. I enjoy a challenge and I'm not doing Spec this year, so anything to keep it fresher in my mind is fairly welcome. I've just started year 12, so while I'm happy to help out bare in mind that I'm going to be busy. I also did physics, but I had a crappy teacher in the second semester and didn't learn much. I managed to score 80% in my end of year exam anyway, which according to aforementioned teacher is an A+. I fluked through the exam but somehow I don't actually understand lots of the coursework.

Just that our members have a tendency to be especially cruel and derisive in welcome threads as a rite of passage of sorts. Just don't take it too seriously and I'm sure you'll manage.

I'm 65% gay. Can we meet up sometime?

Mr. Bungle 02-01-2013 05:43 PM

Hi. I'm not gay.

Slog Bait 02-01-2013 05:44 PM

Hi. I don't accept you.

If it's a summer camp I actually might be able to organise getting down to Sydney for it. Thanks, I'll definitely take it into consideration. Also thanks for the kind gesture with the math. If I find myself puzzled with anything and can't find the answer via Google, I'll shoot you a PM. I believe at the moment we're building up some basic skills to work on more complex problems. More specifically dealing with and simplifying surds and converting recurring decimals to fractions.

If I've learned anything on the internet, it's to not take anything seriously. Especially anything with seemingly malicious intent.

No.

We do that in the equivalent of Maths B just before index laws and imaginary numbers. Our Spec Maths only ran in the second semester and focused almost solely on trigonometry. We diverged into vectors for a few weeks, but soon enough that led right back into trig identities before we knew what hit us. All the same, between our equivalents of Maths B and C I'm fairly sure we cover almost identical stuff.

It's really good to hear that I have someone I can rely on if I'm having trouble. Of course I'm going to work to the best of my ability to pass both B and C.
We went over trig a little bit last year but I've almost forgotten all of it; if what you say is true, I should start revising a little bit before we dive back into it again later on.

Wings of Fire 02-01-2013 06:19 PM

Well I never liked you anyway hmph.

Sorry, I would like you more if you were 5% less gay.

Slog Bait 02-01-2013 08:15 PM

Wow, rude.

Phylum 02-01-2013 08:28 PM

I think Wil should hurry up and post something.

Anyway, peace out. If you have any tips regarding math C and physics, let me know please.

I did Maths Methods and Physics in VCE (and continued with those subjects in to university), so I can certainly help if you have any questions. Not sure what sort of tips to give other than to do all the homework and don't fall behind like I did, necessitating a mad rush to catch up in time for the exams.

I'm also gay, so that helps too.

Wings of Fire 02-01-2013 09:55 PM

Being gay certainly helps you at maths.

I'd noticed myself becoming 150% better at dealing with abstracts since I made out with my first boyfriend.

Okay, so that's all cool then. I was worried there might have been some prior assumed knowledge that I had to revise on before the semester. So far everything's been easy to keep up with and no problems so far. I'll message either you or Phylum with any issues I might be having.

If that's the case, what happens when you make out with a girl?

Phylum 02-01-2013 10:39 PM

It makes you up to 20% worse per kiss, depending on how pressing the work you're not doing at that time is.

Crashpunk 02-02-2013 01:50 AM

I love Welcome threads.

Varrok 02-02-2013 02:13 AM

Hello! You didn't say you like ponies + you said you're not gay = I like you so far

MeechMunchie 02-02-2013 02:39 AM

Hello, I'm some guy you don't care about.

STM 02-02-2013 02:45 AM

Hello, since we're allowed to call you whatever we like I'm going to henceforth refer to you as Lord Poopbumgaytits.

Welcome, Lord Poopbumgaytits, to the forums.
