Anybody else played the GBA version of Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee?
It is very different than the other versions. The plot is completely different and takes place after the Xbox/PS3 versions of Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. It should have probably been called Munch's Exoddus, but since there isn't a Munch's Exoddus for the consoles (Yet), I guess they just went with the Munch's Oddysee name.

Nope, you're the only one.
How exactly is the plot different, what's different in this compared to the Xbox version? |

I've got it, mint condition still boxed and everything.
I plan to use it to repel the rapture at the end of the world. |
It must have worked, the rapture was due May 21st 2011.
Thanks Connell. |
Thank you, Connell.
Also, MO for the GBA was baaaaad. |
Every handheld port for an Oddworld game was baaaaad.
|
Rubbish, Oddworld Adventures improved on the original in every way.

Yeah, that's definitely the worst thing about it!
|
I didn't. It looks shit. Makes the console version look like fucking... some game that is good.
|
I remember this guy who hated oddworld did a 'let's play' on Munch GBA. He did oddworld adventures before that as well but I can't find it. He probably took it down because of how much people were basically screaming at him for hating oddworld.
|
Found them.
He's trying too hard to anger Oddworld fans when these games do it perfectly by themselves. |
That guy wouldn't piss me off if he'd shown footage of him playing a decent Oddworld game instead of picking the worst out of the bunch to show how much he hates it. Also why would you spend time recording a game you hate so much?
|
Did OWI make those games?
|
No, I believe it was GT Interactive and Saffire for OW Adventures, THQ and Art Co. Ltd for Munch GBA.

I had a feeling they didn't, but I just wanted to be sure. :)

See AVGN. Note that I said attempted comedy. I believe that's what I'd categorise this as. |
They aren't as good as the original ones, but Oddworld Adventures 1 & 2 were still fun! :D Munch's Oddysee (GBA) not that much :(
|
Labeling that as attempted comedy is being way too nice.
I don't think he even remotely tried. |
Oh you can tell he tried. How many times does he say shit/damn/fuck in it for no real reason. If you hated a game, would you really be saying that simply because you can't figure out one button?
Chanting in air - he calls it fucking the air. He's not trying to be funny at all. |

I enjoyed possessing sligs but overall it was a hunk of junk. The level design was abysmal, the combat was terrible and the sound effects were really low quality.

I actually have Oddworld Adventures 1 and 2, and they aren't as bad as you might think. Well, 1 is, but as the second is basically a remake of AE it's the best it can be.
I'm not saying they're good, though. |
I genuinely like Adventures 2, but not so much with Adventures or Munch.
EDIT: Who owns the rights to the GameBoy ones? I assume the rights to Munch-GBA are up in the air due to the closure of THQ, but where did the ones for Adventures end up? I ask because I suggested they be added to Abe HD as an unlockable extra, just for shits and giggles. |
Nah, you're alright thanks.

MO GBA is very hit and miss, even moreso than the console version. But for the longest time I settled for it when it was the only option I had available, and for what it was I enjoyed it. Again, the biggest problem I had was that which I had with MO in general: too much back and forth and so many steps just for a simple task... but in spite of that, I like it. I may be a bit weird for that but yes I own MO GBA and like it. ^^
Oddworld Adventures I & II on the other hand... ah, absolutely awesome too. Definitely good fun has been had with my copies of those handheld versions. In fact, when my AE LP is done, OA2 won't be too far off. :) |
